JUNE FAVES

Well, as soon as Dave is done with work today, we will be off for New England for an early anniversary trip. For now, I'm sharing five of my fave blessings from this past week. It's been a kind of mundane week but I can always find blessings from God in the mundane. Join in with us by heading over to Susanne's blog.

  • SUNDAY MORNING WALK:  Before 8 AM, I was out the door for a good power walk. I was hoping it would help my cervicogenic headache like it has in the past (it didn't) and I was so very thankful for the sunshine, good temperature, and signs of summer!!  With all the  rain we have had every weekend since March, everything is so nice and bright green and tons of wildflowers are popping up all over. Im thankful for quiet neighborhoods on a Sunday morning.  (I chose to go to the 11 AM service and sat with my oldest girl and another friend as Dave had to work Production and had plenty of time to get ready after  the walk...and..the sun continued all day!)

  • PHONE CHAT:  I had a nice phone conversation with my youngest sister Jill who called me at the end of her work day Tuesday. I was much appreciative of some information I had been looking for, regarding a town beach/park that she frequents, and all of her tips for the Independence Day weekend.   It's a blessing to hear from a sister instead of an email or text. It had been far too long since we'd talked.

  • SUMMER SIGNS:  I know Summer doesn't officially begin until June 22nd but I've been seeing signs of the season all around town and the neighborhood:  ice cream trucks are crawling past cul de sacs, lawns are getting mowed and trimmed, peonies are popping out, and Flag Day and Independence Day decor is on sale in the stores. I found the cute patriotic heart at the  dollar store one day when I was in there getting cleaning supplies!  I thought it was so cute and it was only $3.00!!  It might fall apart by the end of July but ....for 3 bucks I don't care!  I'm thankful that Summer is almost here.

  • PT SOFT TISSUE MASSAGE:  I was very thankful to have had a very good soft tissue massage by my physical therapist this week. My chiropractor does a deep tissue massage after some spine  alignments but she won't touch my neck.  The PT has experience with the neck issues so really targeted my left side which is always locked. I walked out of there with NO headache and just a little sore where he was working. He also explained cervicogenic headaches a bit better for me, and put in simple terms what he would be doing to try to get my neck to unlock and stay unlocked. He taught me a new stretch and actually  stayed and watched me do it for all the reps to make sure I was doing it correctly. Some PT's leave the room (ones I've had in the past!). All day Wednesday and Thursday,  I was headache free! and my back pain hasn't returned. Glory to God!! I'm thankful for good health insurance and a fantastic physical therapist.

  • MOUNTAIN DAY!  On Wednesday morning, I had a very early PT appointment (7:30!!) and then drove north to meet my cousin Kenny for brunch at a fave diner in the southern Adirondack mountains. He lives on the same road my mother was born on, and where my parents and me and my 3 younger sisters spent our summers (We had a 2 room camp with a screened in veranda, a screened in back porch and an outhouse and all kinds of trails Dad made for us in the woods. We had a piece of the creek and Dad even made us a child sized lean to where we would play with our dolls and pretend to play "little house in the big woods".) Anyways, before brunch, I drove up the road to where this famous covered bridge is to see the falls there and with all the run that creek was high  and those falls were fastly flowing!  The scent of the balsam trees just  totally brought me back to childhood. After brunch, we drove to his home and sat on the screened in porch for about an hour just talking and getting caught up on family news, etc. He lives alone as he has never married. We then took a long walk to the end of the road where it becomes a dirt road that if you hike it, leads to  another waterfalls but it's so buggy this time of year with the black flies in the woods, that we decided to not go in the woods. On my way home, after popping into this store and buying a couple of items, I popped over to the Providence town park and just sat on some rocks listening to the waves of the lake. I'm so thankful for a day in the mountains and for the lovely visit with my cousin.

That wraps up my blessings in this regular -not -super- exciting week.

Whatever you have planned for this weekend, I hope you find time to be refreshed, recharged and relaxed!

Hi Faith. So glad you had a good week. I love the pictures from your early morning walk. I would love to see that old Revolutionary War-era cemetery! I think old cemeteries are so interesting. Wow, everything is so lush and green where you are - thanks to all that rain. Glad you were able to spend a nice day visiting your cousin. Have a good Friday and enjoy your weekend. See you again soon!

Happy Anniversary to you both. I guess June was a popular month for weddings, as there are lots of anniversaries being celebrated in Blogland! I'm glad the PT has proven helpful for you!
