I'm waiting for someone to return my call so thought I'd play along with the Hodgepodge questions this week while I wait. To jump in and do your own post, head over to this blog to link up.
1. Next Sunday is Grandparents Day. Share a favorite memory, photo, recipe, or something you learned from a grandparent.
I have a really nice picture of my dad in his army uniform at about age 20 and my grandmother M (his mom) but blogger wouldn't support the upload. So.
a fave memory of my paternal grandmother is helping her pick corn, beans, and peas from her Adirondack garden in Northville NY. She would let me eat the beans raw right from picking. Loved them! She also told me awesome stories of when she was younger and living and working on South Pearl street in Albany.
2. What's a quote from a book (besides The Bible) that has stayed with you?
from my all time favorite classic novel Les Miserables by Victor Hugo and from the epilogue in my favorite musical movie "Les Miserables" with Hugh Jackman and Amanda Seyfried.3. What's your number one food pet peeve?
I don't know what you mean by this question. 😕 But I'll take a chance and say food that is badly prepared...as in too cool if supposed to be hot, undercooked or over cooked....or pasta that is limp and not al dente.
4. What's one thing about you that is still the same as it was when you were young?
I'm still ambidextrous; I still have super thick hair; I still love reading in bed. Oops that 3!
5. September is National Preparedness Month...does your family have an emergency plan? Do you have some sort of preparedness kit you keep on hand? If so, tell us one thing that's kept there.
Yes, when both girls lived here (we are empty nesters and have been since 2021 and 2022) we had a plan for where to meet if a fire broke out and we had to flee the house; I also gave both girls the same code word to listen for if someone other than me or Dave had to pick them up from school. If the person didn't say the code word they were NOT to go with them and had to tell the principal.
No, the only thing we have is a flashlight in the kitchen "junk" drawer and Dave and I each have flashlights near the bed. We also have emergency bottled drinking water that we keep in the basement. We all have small first aid kits in our glove compartments of our cars and everyone in the family keeps a blanket in the car (for the winter months here in NYS). We also have first aid kits in our hiking backpacks.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
this little candle I saw for $5 at T*rget smells like Vanilla Cinnamon....I love it |
