Today, Monday, is a holiday for many people in the States and it's Thanksgiving in Canada.
My husband and both daughters have to work. Dave is upstairs in his office. We got to spend time with both daughters yesterday afternoon since both came over to get some apple pie and hang out by the bonfire a little bit.
Being retired, I am having a slow morning but am about to leave for the grocery store to stock up on some items the cupboards need for a week of cooking dinner at home. We are trying to cut down on going out or ordering take out so I'm in the midst of being back to menu planning....I'm also enjoying a nice steaming mug of French roast coffee made in my French press before I begin my chores and errands.
The Weather: cool at 50 degrees F; raining, grey but oh do we need the rain!
What I'm wearing: wickaway light sage green joggers, a cream colored tee shirt, sage green running jacket; barefeet (I'll wear my leather white sneakers when I run to the grocery store); sage and cream drop earrings
What I'm thinking about: the news report I saw this morning about the Israeli hostages being released. I'm so happy for those families.
What I'm reading: the books are listed on the sidebar. I'm also reading through a book not listed: it's a hiking guide for easy hikes near to where I live.
What I'm watching: I'm almost through with The Way Home mini-series on Netflix. Dave and I watched a Meg Ryan movie on Friday evening. It wasn't that great at all. Very Disappointing. I'm also only 4 episodes from being done with The Handmaid's Tale (the books are way better!!) which is a great series if you like dystopian themes and Elisabeth Moss is phenomenal as June Osborne aka offgood. I watch this with Daughter 1 and yesterday we completed 2 episodes in the final season.
What I'm feeling: annoyed that after being pain free for 3 full days, the cervicogenic headache is back along with mild back pain! I just can't seem to get through a full week! But.....God is good and He's got this!
What I'm thankful for: a cozy house on this dark, dreary, drizzly day. and for time to read a good book.
What I'm listening to: the dryer is spinning and the dishwasher is running. On the phone playlist in the car when I run errands, I have been listening to Symphony #3 by Beethoven or my Rend Collective cd.
In the kitchen tonight: Shepherd's pie: made with ground fresh bison (bought at a bison farm on Saturday when I was up in the high peaks of the Adirondack Mountains); we will also have steamed beets on the side and fresh fruit of raspberries, blueberries and honeydew.
What's on the calendar this week: my small group/book group tomorrow evening; finish going through autumn and winter clothing and take another bag over to the Episcopal church where they give items to the homeless (I brought two bags over on Friday); A day with youngest daughter and my sister Joy on Thursday...we are headed to this village and this village. We are looking forward to eating lunch at this place. and before we head home we always pop in here to get their amazing gelato; Saturday, Dave and I will be going car shopping. Not my fave activity but we feel it is time. sigh.
A Scripture I'm meditating on: Isaiah 26:3
That's what's happening around our house today.....what about you?
Happy Monday, Everyone!!
