.............the air hot, humid, thick in the city areas.......
more refreshing in the mountains but still a bit humid........
.......and the heat.......
but in the quiet of the woods, the deep southern Adirondack woods comes a breath of fresh air..........
.........the pines stately and fragrant and cool.........
...........the sound of rushing water tumbling over rocks and hiking buddies talking, trampling through thick mud and over the boards laid across the trail........
to the carpet of pine needles under hot sweaty hiking boots..........
destination? the lake with its refreshing waters and stony, bumpy shore and pine-scented lands all around, the laughter of young teens and other hikers splashing...........
yet there is a quietness to this place......
and it is in this quiet that spiritual rest comes along with physical rest..........
a buoyancy that only hiking a trail brings that leads to a quietness of body........
and of soul........the soul being filled up with a buoyancy all it's own......
but then resting........being refreshed inside and out.....
and it's in the quiet that I remember these Words from the One who restores our souls...........
Isaiah 30:15
"in returning and rest you shall be saved; In quietness and confidence shall be your strength"God wants us to put our trust in Him....to rely on Him when the going gets tough.........
like when the thick mud sucked at my hiking boots trying to drag me down, along a part of the trail, so too does the muck of my life...and yours....
the busyness, the chores, the errands, the trials, the children, the husband, the friends, the mistakes, the estranged friends, the hurts, the anger, the sorrow, the chaos............
the sin.............
it will drag us down unless we intentionally quiet ourselves before Him
letting our souls, minds and bodies worship Him
and in doing worship..........in the quiet,
will come a peace and quiet for our bodies and souls.........
it's in the quiet that we find Him
.......................... if we are seeking Him with all of our heart

What a beautiful place to refresh your spirit.
Love your picture of the trail. Your description is really making me want to be there.
Oh ladies I wish you COULD join me there.....it is so refreshing physically and spiritually.....but i feel that way about ANY place in the beloved Adirondack Mts. And I feel like that about any woods or mountain area. Susanne, one place on my bucket list is Banff National Park...hubby has been there but not me. It is in the plans!! :)
