Gold in the Couds

Some of you have asked me why I chose the name "Gold in the Clouds" for my blogsite name. It is from a song by 2nd Chapter of Acts, a music group from the '70's and written by their lead singer, Annie Herring. They were my most favorite group once I became a Christian in 1975 and this song has always spoken to me, in a spiritual sense. The lyrics are as follows:

"even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me,
I'm still finding gold in the clouds;
thru all the shadows and the patterns of doubt,
I'm still finding gold in the clouds.
Even when the eastern sky fills up with light,
I don't see the sun 'til You're there;
even when the moon comes out to play at night,
I don't see the light 'til You're there.
I wonder if I were in someone else's shoes,
would I be like them?
or would I still be me?
I wonder when I'm old if I will understand
everything I say,
I sure hope it's that way."

(latter rain music, 1978)

Most of their songs are filled with deep meaning. For me, during certain parts of my life, my soul seemed to be in shadows. Light chases shadows. The rainbow is a symbol of God's promise to us that He will never flood the entire earth again. When I see a rainbow I am reminded that even though I may be in a difficult time, I can still see the Lord. (the "gold"). It might seem like the promises of God are passing me by, but I know He is still there. He will never leave us nor forsake us! That too is a promise!

PLEASE NOTE: If I list a book or link with a + it means that the material is spiritual/Christian and/or written by an evangelical Christian.

Hi, I stumbled across your blog and wondered if it is for your friends only. I am a single mom struggling with my Christian walk, just wondering if I can read your entries for daily inspiration.

Absolutely! feel free to visit! You can even just sign your first name. I don't post daily although I try to. It is not for my friends only. I started it as a "ministry" for women in my neighborhood, church, school, etc. Hope you find some useful and encouraging things. I have a good friend who is a single mom...it is the toughest job I know of! hang in there. and come back to visit!
