I read the following quote in the book we bought in Lancaster Co, PA while on spring vacation in April. The book is titled "Amish Children" by Phyllis Pellman Good (c. 2000). It is all about life as an Amish child from birth to adulthood/marriage. The quote is from an Amish grandfather when asked what is the Amish adult's responsibility to an Amish child: "watch and pray and try always to be consistent. Be firm but not harsh, and whatever you do, let love be your guiding motive. The greatest need is to be a good example." Words of wisdom for those of us who are not Amish, hmmmm??

Very good quote. It is important that we are walking out what we tell them and also I would add, humbly reveal our weak areas and failures so that weakness and failure is not devastating but "normal". In that way, we are real.
HI Karen: Yes, I think it is very important for our children to see the 'real" us, weakness, failures, sin. And to see us asking forgiveness where needed, and to forgive others and just to know that as Christians we are not perfect and that life will have its failures! It is our walk that counts, for sure! Thanks for visiting!
