One More Day!

One more day of summer vacation for my girls! Today we are going to the mall so "Queen" can spend the rest of her gift card on overpriced trendy clothing. "Starbright" is forced to come with us as D--- is back to work and I am not paying a babysitter just to go to the mall. Besides, if we can find some great flats, Starbright will by trying them on and I will be swiping the credit card! I actually am glad that flats, ballet-style, are the trend. Last year she desired chunky heels and I thought they were kinda ugly for a 2nd grader! Of course, neither of them want to give up the flip flops but....autumn is almost here and flip flops will be going in a sandel bin I keep in the garage. Tomorrow is supposed to be my first day at the school where I just got hired, but I have been informed that I may attend "Queen's" 9th grade orientation at the high school. She is glad.....she will get her locker assignment, her schedule and will get to tour the freshman hall to find her classrooms. She will also have a chance to purchase the planner and the art kit needed for Studio Art. And I get to sit through a 40 min. discussion led by the hall principal, building principal and dean of students. I can think of a much better way to spend my last day of summer vacation but.....perhaps in the afternoon we will take a picnic to the local park and enjoy the woods for one more day. And around our house, that is very important to us....spending time with nature, surrounded by God's creation, before hitting the books and being indoors for 6 hours a day. As for me.....time to get the girls to the mall before the last minute madness begins!
