Here are the lyrics to a song that I just love. It was written by Keith Green's wife, Melody Green and performed by Keith. However, I actually like the way Annie Herring of 2nd Chapter of Acts sang it. (c.1978)

The words have often been my prayer to God over the years....especially during my college/graduate school days. I will let the words of this anointed song speak for themselves....enjoy!

Make My Life a Prayer to You

"Make my life a prayer to You,
I want to do
what You want me to,
No empty words
and no white lies,
no token prayers,
no compromise,
I want to shine
the light You gave
thru Your Son
You sent to save us
from our selves and our despair,
it comforts me to know
You're really there.

I want to thank You now
for being patient with me,
Oh it's so hard to see
when my eyes are on me.
I guess I'll have to trust
and just believe what You say
Oh, You're coming again,
coming to take me away.

I want to die and let You give
Your life to me
that I might live
and share the hope
You give to me,
the love that set me free,
I want to tell the world out there
You're not some fable
or fairy tale
that I made up
inside my head,
You're God,
the Son,
You've risen
from the dead.

I want to thank You now
for being patient with me,
Oh, it's so hard to see
when my eyes are on me.
I guess I'll have to trust
and just believe what You say,
Oh, You're coming again,
coming to take me away.
I want to die
and let You give
Your life to me
that I might live
and share the hope
You gave to me,
I want to share that love
that set me free."

Keith Green was such a treasure. His music is wonderful and he's missed. I didn't know that Melody wrote songs too. I wonder where she is now?

Thanks for sharing these lyrics. (We were married in '78!)

Dear E-mom: thanks for visiting!
As far as I know, Melody is still living in Texas. I was 18 in '78 and graduated from high school in 6/78! Seems like such a long time ago!!

great lyrics, Faith. will have to download this song.

And thanks for the marriage quotes and wisdom. The quote i liked the best was Billy Graham's wife. So true. And that's the best lesson we learn from the LORD to forgive the unforgiveable.
