Another week has flown by.
The girls and I are experiencing our first day of summer vacation.
Unfortunately, it is supposed to rain and have thunderstorms all day but.....
we still have much to be thankful for!

Here is what is helping to fill my tank this week:

  • Town Library: I thank God for our town library. It is a big one! Our town has about 80,000 people and it's divided into 2 sections (north, south) with each section having their own (large!) school district. The library is shared by both sections. Well, the children's part of the library is fantastic. I never leave without finding great novels for the girls. We also have an extensive video/dvd section. Yesterday, knowing that the next 2 evenings would be rainy, I borrowed "Gone with the Wind" so we could watch it. My oldest is currently reading the novel. It is one of my favorite books of all time. It makes you appreciate good quality writing, good flicks, and the rich history between the Yankees and the Confederates! If you have never seen the movie, rent it this summer....it is great for ages 10-adult!

  • Kid's Celebration Ministry: I am so thankful for our church's Sunday School program. My youngest has thrived in the last 3 years in her classes. And I have loved serving in the summer program they offer. This year they are offering SS to just nursery through PreK. I didn't have to volunteer my time this year as my child doesn't have SS classes. But, it is such a pleasure to serve there, that I signed up anyways! The coordinators of this ministry are super-organized, professional, caring and committed. I am thankful that they send us a schedule, highlighted with our time of serving; I am thankful they send us a dvd in the mail to watch (they have strict policies about signing kids in, bathroom issues, etc.). They even have all the materials ready and waiting on the day we serve! Thank you, God, for an awesome children's ministry!!

  • Getting the teacher we wanted: my youngest has just told me (she is now officially a 4th grader) that she is most thankful this week for getting the teacher she really wanted for next year and that her best friend, Samahria, is in her class again! Her teacher has been at the school for about 8 years and she is excellent! My oldest had her and we were praying that Claire would also have her! Thank you, God!!
  • Hiking Guides: I am thankful for hiking/trail books. Currently, I am reading "Adirondack Waterfall Guide" by Russell Dunn. In that book, I am discovering several easy to moderate trails which are located just within an hour's drive from our home. I am planning one for July which, at the end of the trail, has a gorgeous waterfall. It will be a "girls only" hike, meaning just me, and 2 other women friends....thank you, God for your creation!

I am always thankful for my Savior and Redeemer and the Scriptures He has given us.

What about you?
What are you most thankful for this week?

(leave me a comment if you participate in this, and I'll come and read your list!)

A wonderful list as usual, Faith! Getting the teacher you wanted is such a huge thing at that age. I'm so glad that worked out for her!

Susanne: thanks. We are glad too because last year there were tears! (sigh)
