Good morning!
I have finally downloaded all the camping pics (106) into our computer that has the software for the camera. I have just transferred some of the pics over to this computer where I blog. It will take me most of the week to get all the pics I want to share with you, onto this blog....so please be patient!
I won't be sharing all 106 (why did my hubby take 5 pictures of a bee on a purple flower??? Oh...because his baby girl wanted him to!)....seriously...I will post certain highlights of our family vacation.
Here are some pictures of our first afternoon, after checking in to the main entrance of Lewey Lake State Campground, August 16th. (and yes, it is before my foot was burned!). These were taken during our "set-up" time.

Here it is: the infamous pop-up camper. We have owned this since about 1997. It is a 20 year old camper (my in-laws sold it to us before my youngest was born). It has been tons of fun going camping in different state parks, different states. One time was a national park, another time was Niagara Falls, Canada. But....we are older now. Tired from all the work that is involved in setting up and taking down. So...this is the last vacation with this relic. We are praising God that it didn't leak.
We are grateful to Him for all the fun times we have had and for all the family memories we have made.

Claire (age 9) began her camping trip by exploring the lively, running brook that was on our campsite. Ok..I thought we were getting a campsite off the water, with the brook across the road (see, I am no good at reading a map...even an online map at ReserveAmerica!). So...all week we heard the "white noise" of a roaring brook. What a great way to fall asleep. It really was so beautiful. The girls loved wading in it. And the bugs were minimal, which was a huge blessing.
Here we have "Daddy Dave" and my oldest daughter, Courtney (15), starting to put up the girls' tent. Notice how Courtney is pointing to the tent and telling Claire to get up and help out! Claire just wanted to have fun exploring the icy, cold brook!
And this is where we spent every evening from dinner time to bedtime. We love sitting around the campfire, telling weird stories, making s'mores and chocolate eclairs, reading until dark. Courtney, Claire and I even took out our flashnites one night to read by the fire.....mainly because it was so cold you could see your breath! But...this is the Central Adirondacks in the late summer: autumn temps, quick pop-up rains, gorgeous blue skies, crisp, clean air, the call of the loons, leaves beginning to change color, warm beach sand.....there is nothing like it! And part of the reason I love camping so much is because we are out in God's creation.
It is a great place to feel connected to our Creator, and to worship Him with all our senses.
more pictures will be posted later today or tomorrow.......

My poor friend! I am so sorry about your burn. I will pray for your healing and the pain. Ooh, what a bad place to be burned. But is there really a good place? NO!
I'ts nice to catch up and see and read all about your trip. Looking forward to the rest of the pics too! And the loon? COOLNESS! What a blessing from the Lord. You've wanted to see one for so long.
I love that feeling of connection with God too. When we were in Pennsylvania a couple fo weeks ago I was able to stand outside at the motel and it was as quiet as could be. I just gazed up into the sky that was filled with the fluffiest, whitest clouds, the birds were as happy as could be and believe it or not there were two little deer running around. And I was like - Thank you Lord for your beauty!
I was singing (to myself because I am horrible!) You alone are my heart's desire and I long to worship you.
I hope your foot isn't hurting as bad today and you see improvement day by day!
Still praying for everything and what you asked for the other day too!
Hugs!!
Oh, how wonderful. I feel like I was ther with you. All so familiar...
(We threw away our original dome tent this summer... a relic, with lots of memories... but well past it's prime!)
wow, faith, you just keeping selling me this camping idea more and more. Just the time you spend with your kids is so special. It's about passing on a legacy of love to my children...these camping trips would be examples of this that they would remember even when they're old. Your girls must feel so loved by you both.
It's those kind of memories that speak louder than words for me. When i remember my childhood it's road trips with my parents and holidays together, beach trips and picnics. They were some of the happiest times in my childhood. Treasured memories that i want my children to have.
Hi Friends!
Yes my foot is doing much better. The skin is still pretty "raw" but it is healing...it is getting to that itchy stage but for the most part it no longer aches.
And yes, making memories as a family with these camping trips is special to me and to my husband. We treasure every minute.
and for me: when we are in the midst of a horrid northeast winter with the bitter cold and snow and hardly any sun....all i need to do is close my eyes and visualize the ADKS and the pines, etc. and it really does help me get through the winter months! :)
It was a nice day of your camping trip, hope you really enjoyed it.
