A Happy Mommy!

WOW.
Club Libby Lu is going out of business!!
Am I sad?
No Way!
I cannot stand that store/club/website/tweens playing pop star wannabees.

Now don't get me wrong.
I have allowed my daughters, ages 15 and 10, to see all three High School Musical movies. They used to watch the Hanna Montana show, the 10 year old still likes Miley Cyrus (as do I...she is a pretty good role model for the most part). I even sprung for tickets to take them to see Ashley Tisdale and the rest of the gang when they were on tour here in Albany.
I see nothing wrong with those stars. They have fairly good music if you like the whole pop star tween thing where all the songs sound breathy and virtually the same. No matter who the artist is. I like that Ashley Tisdale still seems pure and seems like a nice person. She dresses fairly modestly unlike her co-star whose name shall remain blank but whose initials are VH.
HOWEVER!
I so do not like the Club Libby Lu and when I read in this a.m's paper that they are going out of business after 8 years, I rejoiced!

Yes, I have set foot in Libby Lu at our local mall. Yes, I bought one small item. Actually my then 8 year old paid for it herself. She wanted a certain Webkinz and we could only find it there.

BUT...I drew the line at the whole spa thing.

I mean: this business was set up for TWEENS! A tween is typically a preteen who is ages 9-12.
I find it appalling that preteens are encouraged to look like tramps. And, no offense to anyone who might have worked for Libby Lu, but most of the make-up items, hair stuff, accessories, were "trampy". Preteen girls are still little girls, in my opinion.
The whole Hanna Montana thing is overdone. It is one thing to buy the cd's (her music is actually pretty good) and allow the girls to watch the show. It's trite but harmless.
BUT...I so did not like what the store was promoting. They were selling products to have little girls look like Miley's character Hanna. Hanna isn't real people! She is fiction!! (gasp!!)
You might not agree with me. That's ok.
but I for one am one happy momma that that establishment is folding.

A spa for tweens???? How about a spa at those same prices for the mommies?
You don't find one in the mall, do ya?
And for those of you who whine that now people will be out of business....hey....they can always apply to LimitedToo!

I agree Faith, tweens are still girls not these teenagers that should be wearing tons of make-up, clothes that are far from modest etc. Let them enjoy being girls, it's a short time in their lives.

I have never even heard of this place. I am thankful I am done with raising girls in this crazy world. I pray for my granddaughters. I know what it's like to endure the peer pressure stuff! OOOOooooo! I am happy that you are happy that they will be out of business!

I've never heard of it either, but since I have two boys (a teen and a tween) who live in jeans, tshirts and hoodies - they're pretty easy to shop for. Peace.
