The glory of Christian marriage. What a great topic!

To me, the main point of a Christian marriage is found in Ephesians 5: 22-32

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. "For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh." This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

Now I am not going to get into the whole submission thing.
For those of you who wonder what my stance is on that, and regular readers will, it is basically that spiritually speaking, Dave is the "head of the household" meaning he is the spiritual leader who sets the tone for our marriage. We believe in equality and balance in our marriage. We've learned to compromise and communicate. Harder while amidst conflict but....compassion, compromise, communication in Christ is how we handle our marriage, for the most part. We don't have a perfect one as most people don't! But ....those are the main points we have learned as a married couple.

I feel that by Dave loving me, it is symbolic of how Jesus loves the body of Christ. His bride. His church. That is the true glory of marriage, in my opinion!

As to the question that e-mom put forth for this month (about a conflict in marriage that turned out to be a blessing) simply click here to read the one I have shared in the past about how God helped me through a major conflict regarding a church move. The story is about half way down that particular post.
I would reiterate here but due to other priorities and commitments this week regarding work, school events, church ministries, etc. I cannot devote much time to blogging. This is a busy time of year at school and church. And I am now involved in the Homestretch Challenge which I will be sharing with you sometime during this week.

I hope you have a wonderful start to the work week and if you are participating in Marriage Monday don't forget to link up with Jennifer, our host for the month, at her blog.

Please feel free to leave comments and please take note of the new guidelines for doing so.
Enjoy the week!!

Wonderful post. And I re-read your submission post too. God is so good!

I agree with you wholeheartedly here: I feel that by Dave loving me, it is symbolic of how Jesus loves the body of Christ. His bride. His church. That is the true glory of marriage, in my opinion!

Have a blessed Monday, and enjoy your busy week.

Hugs, e-Mom :~D

Couldn't agree with you more on this one Faith! :) Marriage can be tough, but with Christ, there is such a difference, there is a time of true glory! :)

I loe God's design for the marriage relationship....if the husband is being obedient and treating the wife as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself for it, then it's not a question of do I submit or not? Submission is what I want to do when Rob is treating me as Christ treated His bride.

Thank you for the wonderful post. You have some very great points!
