Around our house this last week, we had a little ballerina preparing for her very first solo on stage with the Academy of Dance studio.
Claire was so excited to be asked to do a solo in the ballet this year.
The show was Saturday evening.
The teachers chose "Coppelia". It is a long ballet, usually about 4 hours, which they summarized in about 25 minutes.
The girls did a fantastic job. Ballet is no longer as popular at the academy as other dance genres. Hip hop seems to be the most popular but in my opinion it is not nearly as graceful, pretty nor classy. It IS fun to watch. But ballet and jazz will always be my very favorite dance genres.
We were blessed beyond belief to have my inlaws drive all the way from south shore Boston area; the HizKidzPraise ministry director and her 2 little girls (Candace and daughters: Carolyn, Gracie) and Candace's assistant, Gail; the HKP dance choreographer Mary and her fiance and my good friend from church, Lynn and her daughter Marissa, who is good friends with Claire. What a blessing to have some extended family and good friends share our excitement on Saturday evening. I had some of them over to the house after the show for dessert and fruit.....everyone was hungry...the frozen pie was a hit...you can copy the recipe found in the post below.
Claire seems to prefer the ballet as she dropped out of Tap about 2 years ago.....so......
I am showing you some highlights of the Dress Rehearsal evening.......
The name of the show this year was "And We Danced".
Enjoy the pics! (but please don't copy them....thanks!)

SO.....now around our house we are getting ready to say goodbye to students and classmates.
My oldest daughter just has 2 more exams tomorrow.
Claire and I are done by noon on Wednesday.
Courtney has a meeting at the high school on Wed. afternoon with the building principal, this year's Life Club president, a senior who is graduating on Saturday, and the other officers for next year's Life Club. Courtney will be secretary in the autumn. Life Club is the Youth for Christ club on campus! We are so blessed to have this club and many of the members attend our church and other churches in our area.
Once Wednesday arrives, I will be packing furiously for our vacation to Acadia National Park....we leave very soon! We will be gone for awhile! We are all so looking forward to the kayaking, biking, hiking and relaxing we plan on doing!
Meanwhile, I get the privelage of bringing my teenager to DMV for the first time to aquire the study booklet we need for taking the Learners Permit test.
And we need to finish the planning of her Sweet 16 party which will be thrust upon us less than a week after we get back from Maine....so.....
around our house we continue to be busy.......but yet.....looking forward to a family vacation in which we will keep busy but.....it's a different kind of busy-ness. If you know what I mean.....
and around our house......it's what we love!
Verse for the week:
"He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul......"
Psalm 23:2b

What a wonderful ballet that must have been. Congrats to your daughter. Well done and thanks for sharing ;)
Hip hop and ballet are definitely in two different categories. LOL.
The program all looks so lovely and Claire looks adorable in her doll costume. You must be very proud!
Enjoy your vacation! It sounds wonderful. Unfortunately, it's looking more and more like it will be a staycation for us, but the thought of just not working for a week and having no responsibilities or schedules sounds like heaven to me.
I love these pictures of Claire!!!! She looks beautiful. Good job with the bun :0)
Oh, there is a learner's permit book on line.
Nice pics. Thanks for sharing.
Have a great vacation. Aunt Helen
Can you take pics/vid of the party? Especially when dave gives her the ring? I'd really appreciate that part of the whole party being recorded....
Dave isn't giving her the ring until the next day which is her real birthday. The party is just for her friends....I'll just be making sure they don't run out of food and drinks! :)
