Five Faves!

Wow....the summer ended with us having a GREAT long weekend vacation with our friends from church, and then preparing for the first day of school which was yesterday.
So....we are off to a great start to the school year and it is gonna be a busy one.
My daughters are both involved in busy clubs, activities and ministries......

I am still praying about which ministries to focus on....I think it is just going to be HizKidz this year, helping once in awhile with life:redefined and doing something new: a 1:1 study with a friend to work on covenant relationship. Am still praying about how all that will go......but...it will be good....just busy!

I also plan on doing some more hiking this autumn if I can talk my husband into going....or into letting me go alone.....(some of the hikes I wanna do are very safe if done alone).....I may even talk a friend or 2 into hiking!

for now...here are some highlights of my week:

6 long stemmed roses from my husband, Dave.
He noticed last evening that
I had been having
a rough couple of days
and it wasn't because
work was starting back up.
(i LOVE my job!)
He knew I was sad about something and
he knows my love language is gifts....so....

he came home with a brand-new computer monitor
for one of the computers

(altho I suspect this was really for HIM! :) )
and 6 roses in pink, yellow, red and peach.
A very nice surprise!

My "baby" girl: Claire Rebekah
on the first day of 5th grade

Thurs. 9/10/09

Watching/listening to my 2 daughters
play piano (Courtney) and violin (Claire)
the nite before school began this week.
Notice Claire's arm holding the violin....yikes...
time for the next size up!

She has out grown the half-sized violin!

Having a beach bonfire
after our first full day
at the beach house with our new friends.
B. Courtney, C.
all had fun roasting marshmallows

and trying to get me to figure out some game called "Conundrums"?
(I think I have that right!)
It was a GORGEOUS full moon nite and perfect for a fire...........

One last weekend at the beach house with good friends.
We had a wonderful weekend
vacationing together
and my family
is hoping for this again next summer!

So those are just some of my favorite things from the last week.

The entire vacation was wonderful and I will post more pictures when time allows.
Our friends seemed to enjoy themselves and we just wanted them to be relaxed and at peace.
Hopefully I didn't wear them out with all the kayaking and "playing" outside.
One nite, Candace and I sat on the beach for a couple of hours, in the dark, wrapped in blankets, to talk privately.........God is doing something.......this much I know.....and it was a great way to end my summer vacation although now, spiritually speaking, I have some "work" to do. It is a blessing that the Lord has put her in my life and I am praying it is a blessing for her as well.

It is always a good thing when God expands our friendships and gives us people who make us stretch!!

Enjoy the weekend everyone....if you want to participate in the Friday Fave Fives head over to Susanne's by clicking here.

Claire looks very nice in her new school clothes.

Beach bonfires look like so much fun. Sounds like a perfect way to wrap up summer.
