Five Friday Faves!

Yeah!! It's Friday!
It started out as a cold, dreary looking day but we now have glorious blue skies, full sun and a crisp feel to the temps....but...we only need a sweater or light fleece so I am not complaining.
Tomorrow my plans include driving my teenager to the PSAT exam at her high school, doing breakfast with my husband and then getting in the car for a day trip to the Cooperstown area with my youngest daughter and possibly a friend and her daughter (and maybe my oldest if the exam is done in time) for a visit to the Fly Creek Cider Mill.

Susanne, our host for the Fave Fives, is dealing with some backpain today, but she said to carry on...so....here are 5 of my favorite things from this past week:

My oldest daughter's class ring!
She has had it for 2 weeks.
It makes my fave five list this week because
I love how she chose
the Christian sym
bol of the Cross for her side emblem.
The color blue is the school color.
On the other side of the ring is the school mascot.

Columbus Day

This glimpse of the west branch
of the Sacandaga River
while hiking with my sister on Monday.

This is one of my fave places to hike
while in the Adks.....
it is one of the remote regions.

My youngest daughter's lunch on Thursday.
Read the post below this one
(you might have to click on "home")
to find out why this makes my fave five list this week.

This picture.
It reminds me of my final fave thing for the week:
students' hugs.

I love when the special needs students I am working with just spontaneously reach out and offer a hug.
Often, those of us in the classroom, tell them to "use your words if you want a hug".
Mainly to teach appropriateness.
However, I treasure the times when they just spontaneously reach for us and hug us.
It is their way of telling us they trust us and like being with us in the classroom.
This week, one boy in particular just stole my heart.
He has autism.
Because of confidentiality I cannot show you a pic.
But....he is a cute little 5 year old.....
he rarely makes eye contact nor does he behave in an appropriate socially
acceptable manner.... but...he is learning...

and...he gives great hugs!

That's it for me! If you like this meme, head over to Susanne's at Living to Tell the Story and link up with her.

ENJOY THE WEEKEND!

What are 2 of your fave things from this past week?
What are your weekend plans?

Great FFFs! I think I'd love hiking in the Adirondacks too. The trails look so inviting.

Sweet photo of your daugther's ring. May she always keep the cross close to her heart.

Have a great weekend.

Love that hug photo and what you had to say about it.

Love the story about the hugs, especially from a little guy with autism. :) We teach our high schoolers not to hug, just isn't appropriate at HS anymore. But when I see kids out of school, that is different. I saw one of my autistic students at the grocery store the other day. And he looked right at me, greeted me, and said,"hugs at grocery store?" I gave him a big hug! :)
BTW, love Courtney's ring! It's gorgeous!

YOur hiking pics look great.

I would love to go on that hike, it's absolutely gorgeous. And I'm like you in that I feel closest to God when in nature. Although I would probably be taking it at a snail's pace today I would still love to be there.

And now I'm majorly craving a pancake or three! :v)

Love the class ring.
