For Fun

1. What was the last song you listened to?

"Let the Waters Rise" by MikesChair...scroll to post below this one to listen to it!

2. Have you ever had “buyer’s remorse” over anything?

Absolutely! Altho not recently. I do regret letting my husband talk me into the coffee table and matching end table he liked for our family room.....it's too big for that room and now I want to downsize....gotta wait tho....

3. What is something in your life that you are thankful for now that you didn’t think you would be at the time of the event? (Something that seemed ill-timed, inconvenient or hurtful which turned out to be a good thing)

There are a few things but I think the biggest for me would be the decision to stop my full time teaching career to stay home with my (then) 2 year old. 5 years being a "stay at home mommy" was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever lived through....it was also one of the toughest decisions I have ever had to make because my full time teaching job was directly from the Lord, yet, so was my precious daughter....so.....yeah. Now I am most thankful for the decision to stay home full time for 5 years but at the time......the decision making process was extremely difficult.

4. Do you watch the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade every year? If so, do you have a favorite float or balloon?

Now that I am married to a direct descendent of the Mayflower, NO. Because we are always with the T----family that day/weekend.....however, we watched it faithfully every year, growing up. I don't remember a particular fave float but I always loved the marching bands.

5. Share a quote, scripture, poem or lyric which has been an inspiration to you lately.

There are SO many! but lately this Scripture (since JULY) has been imprinted on my heart:
"The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His Love; He will rejoice over you with singing." Zephaniah 3:17

6. This is meant to be a fun question, and this is a G-rated blog, but please share a “guilty pleasure,” something that you enjoy that’s probably not the most edifying, time-worthy or healthy thing you could be indulging in. Did I mention this blog is rated G?

This is a funny question, Linda! Yeah, let's keep it G-rated..I'm part of the Family Friendly Blog Network!! I think for me the most indulgent thing right now which is definitely not very healthy for me is drinking lots of coffee after 4 pm......i know...I'm a wild woman, aren't I?? that, and trying to keep up with all my friends' status' on Facebook...which I am slowly weaning my self from!! Praise the Lord!!!!! I think the BEST way to stay in touch with our true friends is NOT through the electronic means but thru face to face contact or at least by phone a few times a week......much more edifying for me.

7. What Thanksgiving food are you looking forward to?

My mother in law's homemade cranberry sauce and the gravy my father in law makes.

8. What is your favorite book to read to children, or what was your favorite childhood book?

One of my fave books to read to children is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle. All of the Eric Carle books are in our possession...I bought them when my youngest was a toddler....and we live very near the museum which is one of the best children's museums we have gone to as a family. My favorite childhood book was "The Secret Garden"

9. Do you collect anything? (Feel free to post a photo.)

No time for photos but I collect 3 things: mugs from places we travel to/vacation in, pins (the jewelry kind, specifically: dragonflies or butterflies), and Adirondack books.

10. Gift bags or wrapping paper?

Both (mainly paper at Xmas time)

11. Share an after-school memory from when you were younger. What was your routine like on an average day?
Depends on the age: from 2nd grade until senior year, I'd come home as a latch key kid, practice piano and do hw. OR...walk to my piano lesson, and start dinner (as a teen). In high school I was very involved in the music program so my life revolved around music, all-county, all-state and NYSSMA.

12. True story: Once, in a job interview, I was asked this question and told there would be no clarifying; I simply had to answer the question: “When you’re fishing, do you feel for the fish?” So what about you? Do you feel for the fish??

I could care less about the fish.

Ok Linda....there ya go! Many thanks to Linda from 2nd Cup of Coffee!! You can find her link by scrolling down my sidebar and looking under the label "Blogs to Browse".......

Coming up soon: A book review of "The Killing Tree".....every one should read this book!!!!!!!!
It deals with physical and emotional/verbal abuse (fiction story but reality for many teens)

Sounds like a good book. So many people are emotionally abused by people that says there is no such thing.

What a wonderful encouraging scripture! There are just so many that God is speaking to my heart about His faithfulness right now that I had a hard time picking.

The dayhome kids really like Eric Carle too. You have an Eric Carle museum? How fun!
