It's Friday!!! And no more work in the classroom for an entire week. We are officially on winter break as of tonite!
It was a very busy week but a good, productive one. Here are my top 5 favorite things from this week...but also...just knowing and experiencing the love of my family, my friends, and my God will always top my fave five list!
Head over to Susanne's by clicking here if you wanna participate!
These fruits. One of my faves this week has been to eat lots of fresh, seasonal fruits. Although those apples are not exactly seasonal for NY, the grocer had them on sale this week for $.99 a lb. My oldest and I like to slice them and have them dipped in Nutella(of course!). The grapefruit I eat every morning and the clementines are eaten as an after school snack or I tuck a couple into my tote for bringing to the classroom. My youngest only likes the apples but she has been eating fresh kiwi, melon and canned pears. None of us have had more than 1 headcold this year (mine was back in the beginning of the school year...I am praying we all stay healthy for our trip to Paris!)
My teenager's dresser!
Yes, she has been doing a great job keeping her room neat
including her dresser top.
I like how she has organized it,
with all the body lotions and sprays in the middle,
and then the hair things to the right.
This just HAD to make my fave five list!!
Seeing my youngest work on her homework in a digilant manner.
Although it hasn't seemed like a long winter due to our most unusual mild winter here in NYS, the girls are getting tired of the daily homework and are looking forward to next week's Winter Break! Claire, especially, has a lot of HWin 5th grade plus she is taking a language again, now that it is 3rd quarter (Spanish this time!) plus she is doing a creative writing piece for the Young Writers Institute that she hopes to attend in May. Yesterday she attended the Young Writers Workshop that our district English supervisor invited her to...they choose children in grades 4-6 who appear to be "gifted" in the language arts/creative writing. I am very proud of her...she also has long rehearsals on Sundays and Mondays for HizKidzPraise, and her ballet classes are Tuesday evenings....she is one busy girl.....the reason this made my fave five? because she is here, with a smile on her face, (sort of!) while doing a difficult math assignment. And she didn't complain!
This book!
I am browsing through this kayaking/canoing book
to prepare for some day trips this summer.
The book centers around flat (quiet) waters of the Adirondacks.
Since I do not do the "white water" thing...am not a good enough swimmer,
I much prefer to kayak on the quieter lakes and rivers.
This is also helping me get through these long winter months!

Cribbage!
It is rare these days that my husband & I sit down on a Saturday evening
to play a board game!
But...we were home on Saturday evening and my youngest daughter wanted to watch us so she could learn how to play.
I have only won against my husband once....at the beach house...about 3 years ago....
needless to say, I did NOT win on Saturday evening, but at least I didn't get skunked!
It's making my fave five list because I really had a good time with Dave,
just sipping herbal tea, eating my homemade chocolate-mint fudge,
and having fun without spending money!
and remember: this blog will go "private" and available to invited readers only so send me an email if you want to continue to visit here. It will go private at some point tonite!!

I haven't played crib in forever but I remember really enjoying it when I did. Maybe I should buy a board and get my kids to reteach me.
Kayaking sounds like so much fun. After all your posts about it last year I tried to hint to hubby but he and water just don't get along. LOL.
Good for Claire! My daughter has math this quarter and it's always been a real struggle for her. But she's pulled off a couple of great marks to start it off with some really hard work. Now if I could just her to be motivated to keep a dresser top like Courtney I think I'd be in heaven. LOL.
Look at all that pink!!! What a lovely reminder of girlhood.
And cribbage. I think we still have a board hidden somewhere. Good reminder of a terrific game.
Have a blessed weekend.
e-Mom :~D
