March Fave Fives #3

This week has flown right by me!  Maybe it is because I have been so busy with teaching, errands, housework, the girls' extracurricular activities, spring cleaning, more Paris planning, and getting some much needed power-walking in to my daily routine.

I love taking the time to participate in Susanne's "Friday Fave Fives" because it allows me to pause and consider those favorite moments or items, that are really blessings from God.

This week I have many favorites that are connected to the new season we are in:  SPRING!!
It has definitely sprung here in my part of NYS.

My Favorite Five things this past week:

 This Easter/Spring decoration.
It is hanging in my living room,
off a peg that is attached to the bottom
of a Shaker style item
that features 3 mini shelves.
In the spring and summer,
I place one tiny birdhouse on each shelf.

This Easter basket full of wooden, speckled eggs.
I tend to leave this as a centerpiece for our dining room table until about mid-May when I replace it with a vase of tulips.
I love these country style eggs in a basket that I used  to use as Claire's Easter basket when she was a toddler.

Watching Claire enjoy her first bike ride of 2010!  Wednesday reached a mild, sunny, 62 degrees here in our town.  She wanted to wear flip flops which we don't normally allow for biking but since she was just riding around the neighborhood, I agreed to it.  She became warm so actually had to take off her sweatshirt.  While she rode, Courtney did homework on the sunny front stoop and I worked at cleaning out the flower bed in our front yard.  Much was accomplished that day....always a fave!

This movie!
Courtney, my 11th grader, takes Honors English. This is on the reading list for all S-----High School juniors but because she is in the Honors program, she has to analyze the literature and write a paper on any literature read. They have much more writing work in the Honors program, which she finds challenging so does not get bored. She is also glad that 11th grade English is American Literature.  Last year was British Lit.
F.Scott Fitzgerald wrote this phenomenal novel.
I much prefer the book to the movie, but it was lots of fun to watch an old classic with my teenager!
Hubby was away all last weekend and little sister was in the basement playing.
We had a girls nite of popcorn, French Vanilla coffee and this fantastic flick!
(and yes, she agreed that Robert Redford is a hunk!)

My new hair length.  This has been my usual look over the last 15 years...a French style bob (or sometimes a short, cropped version of it)....but...this past autumn and winter, I let it grow out. Well, yesterday morning it was touching my collar.....longest it has been in 10 years...so....I decided since I was starting to look like a hag....(in my opinion, most women over 40 just don't look that great with longer hair....it tends to make us look even older...my stylist agrees!)...anyways...for me, this shorter cut is much more professional- looking and easier to maintain for vacations...so....I may go a tad bit longer and then have her cut in some layers for summer but for spring....the classic bob will have to do! And hey.....this is still the main look for French women so...I should fit right in, n'est pas??

Those are my 5 fave things from the week.

I also enjoyed the following picture and Scripture:

Your Easter decoration and eggs are utterly charming! I love it when kids are interested in the classics and using their analytical skills. What a lovely week you have.

Love those wooden speckled eggs. Those are awesome! I love bringing spring decorations out.

I am just growing my hair out a bit. Sort of a modified bob. It's the longest I've had since my oldest daughter was little and even then it had layers. It's very different for me but I think I like it.

That scripture is actually very convicting especially in our society that really is "things" oriented.

Love the haircut Faith! It does look nice on you. I told my husband the other day that I SO NEED to get my haircut......it's been almost 6 months!!! Ugh......so now I am motivated after seeing how cute your hair looks. Love that Courtney could do her HW outside, while Claire rode bike and you cleaned out the flower bed. Sounds like a NICE spring day!
Have a nice weekend!

I just got mine cut this week in about the same style. It was supposed to have layers in it, but she got to talking and just cut it straight across. I figured I'd get the layers in next time.

Love the Easter decorations!

I have neither seen nor read Gatsby -- I should rectify that!

I love your Easter decoration. I must get mine out of the attic soon or I’ll miss Easter altogether! I love your short haircut. It looks very nice and young on you!
