Once again, the lovely Susanne from Living to Tell the Story, is our host for this weekly meme. I like thinking of the 5 things that blessed me the most this week....here they are:
- This Recipe from a sister- in -Christ from my former church (Thank You, Holly!!). She had seen something on my Facebook status about how I made scones for my family and she sent me her recipe as I asked her for one that didn't include a box mix :) I plan on baking these tomorrow morning.
NUTMEG SCONES
2 1/3 c. packaged biscuit mix
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter, melted
Sugar
Combine biscuit mix, 1/4 cup sugar, and nutmeg. Stir together egg, milk, and melted butter; stir into dry mixture just until dough clings together. Knead gently on floured surface for 8 strokes. Pat into a 6-inch circle. Cut into 10 wedges. Sprinkle with sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Serve warm. Makes 10.
Options: mini chocolate chips/cinnamon chips/toffee chips/frozen blueberries/craisons.
- Shopping for a prom dress with my oldest daughter. We even got it for 50% off......what a bargain blessing!! This is the one she decided on.....and we only had to go to 2 stores before she discovered it!
- Attending the Leadership Awards Ceremony for Courtney. She received an award for being a student leader in the Christian club at her high school. Keep in mind this is a PUBLIC high school....the club is LIFE (Living in Faith Everyday) and she is the club secretary and the liason for our church and her school for the Operation Christmas Child project. I was very proud of her! Her good friend Shauna also received an award for serving in LIFE club. Our high school has over 100 clubs which includes Academic, Performance groups, Sports Groups (crew, ski, and bowling),Service Organizations (Key Club), Publications (Yearbook, Poetry, Newspaper) and Support Groups of which LIFE club is categorized under. We are blessed to be in an excellent school district and I give thanks to God for this.
- Bedtime chats, laughter, and hugs with my tween, 11 year old Claire. How quickly time is passing...it seems like just yesterday that I was preparing her for kindergarten and here it is just 8 weeks away from the end of 5th grade.....next year will be her last year in the elementary school. I treasure each and every evening I have with her....she still loves me to tuck her in to bed, pray with and over her, and hug her. In fact, it is a rare night that I can leave her room before "just one more hug, Mommy"...how she loves those hugs...I am blessed to be her mother.
- The call of the chickadee and robin first thing in the morning. I get up at about 5:45 a.m. every day except the weekends. I have to because of going off to the classroom and to make sure the teenager gets up and out. This week was especially hard to get up....it has been dark and dreary for most of the week (as I write this, it is beautiful out) but the sound of the birds stirred me into moving. I was even able to catch a glimpse of a chickadee perched in our cherry tree surrounded by gorgeous pink blossoms. By the time I got the camera out, he had flown away. Here is a pic of the blossoms, though.
That's it for me!
What tops your list this week??

love the pretty prom dress my daughter had her junior prom last week and I also have an 11 year old who is almost done with 5th grade and yes the time definatly does fly. I love to hear the birds in the morning to. The last picture was beautiful. Have a great week.
That prom dress is just beautiful! What fun it must be to have girls. My son will don his tux in two weeks for his prom, but it's not the same as a fluffy pink dress...
I do know what you mean about time passing quickly. One of my boys will be a senior in college next year and we've just learned he may have to stay on campus this summer. I was expecting him home!
Happy weekend!
Courtney looks lovely and she's got great taste in dresses! I loved grad dress shopping with my oldest girl. So much fun. I think I took pics of her in about 7 dresses. LOL.
It's been yucky weather here and it has been HARD getting out of bed. I just want to stay in bed and cover my head. LOL. Today though the sun has been shining, though still cold. I'll take that over the bizarre storm we've been sitting under.
Beautiful girl in a beautiful dress! Treasure those days with your little one. All too soon they grow up and move to other states.
Waking up to singing birds is a great way to start the day.
Have a great weekend!
