Courtney and Claire on our first evening walking towards L'Arc de Triomphe!
The hotel we stayed in for the week was down the street and around the corner from this magnificent monument!
This shows a typical apartment building on the Right Bank of Paris, which is the bank we stayed on. We THOUGHT we were booking a hotel on the Left Bank (where the heart of Paris, in my opinion, is located...the artsy side....and where the average Parisian romps). BUT...upon our arrival we discovered that we were on the very expensive side of the city and where the Champs Elysees is of course which means designer shops and businesses. We took a Metro (subway for NYers, the T for Bostonians...I don't know what the rest of ya call it!) all over Paris. We mainly explored the Ile de Citie which is the historical section of Paris in the middle of the Seine, and the Left Bank, of course, which is where the Sorbonne is, the Rue Cler (will show pics of that walk later on), and the Tour Eiffel (Eiffel Tower). We also took the RER (train) to Versailles. The train stop was about a 20 minute walk from our hotel.....we loved every minute!
My girls and I sitting in a tiny park across from our hotel.
Dave and the girls standing in front of our hotel. There is a story about this hotel. Here's the short version: the apartment we had booked for the week at a very good weekly rate, back in December, had a fire in it sometime this past winter. Therefore, upon arriving, the concierge informed us we would have to choose new rooms. We ended up getting 2 separate bedrooms for the girls and ourselves with a small entry way between the 2 rooms with an outer door to the main hallway! What a blessing....although we lost the kitchennette due to not being able to have the apartment, the hotel management gave us the breakfast buffet in the hotel restaurant FOR FREE for as long as we were staying there!!! GOD IS GOOD!! AND the presence of that outer door with a deadbolt really helped me to relax about the girls being separate from us.....and it made it much more romantic for Dave and I :)
It's late, I'm tired from being back in the classroom, and I have done 4 loads of laundry since Sunday nite as well as regular housework. My window cleaning begins tomorrow....argh....I don't really like that aspect of spring cleaning...but....I will be on here again later this week with more pictures and more anecdotes......
the pics I show here are just highlights...between the 4 of us we managed to take close to 1000 pictures.....

Well I would way rather have a buffet someone else cooked while on holidays. What a blessing for you!
Looks like a great holiday, Faith! Such a beautiful city.
Hi, e-Mom told me you have pictures from France and I had to come on by! What a great trip, and it sounds like the Lord blessed you abundantly!
Susanne: yes the buffet was marvelous. VERY French. Will describe a typical French breakfast in next posting.
Jennifer: Yes, the Lord was amazing in how He worked every little detail of our trip! Thanks for stopping by :)
Looks like your camera did a fabulous job taking pics! I'm so glad that your family was able to take this trip of a lifetime together. I think, had I been partaking of that wonderful French buffet daily, I would have gained 20 pounds! :)
