My Easter Dinner.
We were at the Do Re Mi for dinner...a local (to our hotel neighborhood) French-Italian restaurant. How funny it was to hear an Italian, speaking French, with an Italian accent.
The place was intimate yet had a busy bar and outdoor cafe. We ate indoors as was quite cool although several locals were sitting outside with their winter coats and scarves.
This is a typical salad in Paris. Greens (Boston lettuce!) with a slice of brown bread, fromage (mild cheddar), jambon (ham) and a light dressing similar to a vinagrette. The pommes (potatoes) were wedges with various Italian seasonings. Similar to hash browns but much tastier and less greasy. It was delish with a glass of wine and then a cup of cappuccino. Dave had duck. Courtney had chicken. Claire had a cheddar burger.
This was one of 2 Carousels
in the park near the Eiffel Tower.
After touring much of the
historic section of Ile de Citie
during our first full day in Paris,
we decided to take the Metro
to Trocadero Square and had dinner
and then walked around the Eiffel Tower
area during the evening.
It is about 9 pm in this picture.
Note the stairs on the carousel
leading up to a 2nd level.
Claire insisted that Courtney and I ride with her.
Claire rode a horse;
Courtney and I shared a bench.
We all were on the top level.
It was so much fun!
The Eiffel Tower at twilight. The lights were just going on. After 9 pm, they flashed the lights and kept them flashing for about a 5 minute show. Supposedly they show flashing colored lights as well, but the night we were there, we didn't see that happen. It really was a spectacular sight! And in the evening, it was not very crowded at all! The French eat late
(7-9 pm) so most of the locals were at dinner. We ate at about 7:30 that evening in a small British restaurant/pub right across the street from Trocadero Square so we were able to get across easily and walk around without it being too crowded. There were not alot of tourists, either. It was a lovely evening.
Here is another night shot of the Eiffel Tower with the fountains in the foreground. I think my 11 year old took this pic. It is soooo much better "in person" than what this picture can capture.

Looks so pretty!
Was it a big adjustment for you guys to eat that late? Your Easter lunch looks yummy.
Hi Susanne: it wasn't really that difficult for us as a family to eat that late because we normally eat at about 6-6:30 pm every nite of the week except Saturdays...Sats we tend to eat a bit earlier like at 6 pm. When claire was in the HizKidzPraise ministry we would have to eat really early at about 4:30 and that was way too early...we much prefer the later time...that way we all eat as a family. 8 pm was fine because our lunch was always about 2 pm...so....it did cut down on wanting to snack!
Dave had duck... I've only had it once... at a very French restaurant. Did he like it?
You're so lucky to have seen the Paris lights at night. Ooh la la. I was there as a single college student and chose not to go out at night for safety reasons. I made a promise to myself to go back with my spouse in the future... haven't done it yet! (DH went to eastern Europe w/ ministry and also saw Pari--without me. Oh well!)
Thanks for sharing your trip adventures with us. :~D
Hi E-mom: yes, Dave has had duck several times. I had it in Aruba on our honeymoon at a swanky French restaurant and it was ok. A bit greasy for me....he enjoyed the duck in Paris better than here or in Aruba.
You just might get to Paris yet with your DH. I was totally surprised that we actually did this....I am STILL surprised! lol....see you for Marriage Monday! :)
