June Fave Fives #1

It's Thursday evening!

Beautiful on my deck.  A perfect early summer evening.

Tomorrow is Friday!

The start of a busy and exciting weekend for us.

I'm tired tonight.  From teaching.  Mothering.  Managing my home.  Running errands. Gardening. Cooking.

But....with tiredness comes a peace.  Things are getting done that need to be done. Answers to prayer are evident in big and small things.

Let's look back at the week and give God thanks for His many blessings....to play along, simply head to Susanne's and link up with us.  And leave me a comment with your favorites from the week or let me know, if you are not a blogger, yet are reading this, what your fave pic is that I feature on here!

SIMPLE LUNCHES!
The roll pictured here is a Portuguese Roll from our local bakery.  The blueberries were on sale, and the cheese is sharp cheddar and Baby Bel, a soft French cheese.  Decaf iced tea completes my meal.

PEAR JUICE!
The kind we had for breakfast in Paris!
Took me over a month to find this....
my teenager thanks me profusely.

GETTING READY FOR POST-PROM PARY!
Fresh, new flowers!
The Carnation Pink Geraniums are in honor of Courtney and PROM weekend. The purple flowers are because Claire's fave color is purple.  The white flowers are because I like white with that lime green pot

Dracona Spikes were transplanted from pots to this trellis box on side of our deck.  Claire took these pics for me...thank-you, Claire!

Peonies near the road, and the pink hanging geraniums were pruned and watered.  Since the limo is arriving at our house and all the couples are meeting here for pictures, I wanted to make everything as bright, clean, and spring-like as possible!

Front stoop was hosed off, chair and cushion washed....yes, the white trim needs to be re-painted but that will have to wait until the end of the month when school is completed for another year! (our deck has 2 new chairs and our firepit area has different chairs placed nearby for socializing, etc.  It felt good to get these tasks done this week and the weather cooperated!!

Attending Courtney's Spring Concert on Tuesday evening. (and the added blessing of another ballet mom who happens to be an acquaintance of mine, who offered to bring Claire home from ballet class so Dave and I could attend the concert without making Claire miss her next-to-last class!)
Courtney has played violin since she was in 4th grade. She is now in 11th.  And her junior high orchestra teacher is now up at the high school for his first year teaching the older kids.  The Orchestra did such an outstanding performance that the audience, made up largely of parents and the upper hall principal, plus the district music supervisor, received a standing ovation!
The other groups that performed that night were the Flute Choir, Jazz Ensemble and one of our 3 Choruses.  All were excellent but of course we are most proud of Courtney for staying in Orchestra AND for the Orchestra receiving the State Gold with Distinction Award for NYSSMA Majors Competition.  It is the first time ever this high school orchestra has won that title AND it was the first time they ever attended the NYSSMA MAJORS!  Pretty good for their first time, huh??(it is the highest award given)
We're proud of you, Courtney! (she is here in one of the athletic fields at school...I found this pic on her FB page!)

TIME SPENT WITH FAMILY

Dave and I kayaked together on our tandem kayak on this lake (Black Lake in Cherry Plain State Park) on Memorial Day (monday).  We enjoyed 3 hours of peace and quiet and reflecting on the Lord's beauty.
and....
Saturday evening, Claire and I had the pleasure of attending a wedding. It was a very short wedding near a city where we had already had plans for the evening so it worked out well.  I took Claire out for a late dinner (the wedding was at 5:30).  And then we did some shopping together.  It was so special to have this 1:1 time with my "baby".  And...while we were driving around Saratoga Springs which is one of my most favorite NY cities(it is a SMALL city but just wonderful, artsy, classy), Claire noticed a creperie!!!!!  YAY!! Ok, so it isn't spelled in French.  In fact, the sign just said "Crepes sold here" BUT...it is in a section of the city which used to be known as the college bar scene and now is re-made like a tiny Parisian neighborhood...at least one area of it is: there were tiny sidewalk cafes, crepe places, and even a strolling musician playing French music on an accordian.  It was great fun....we plan on going back one evening this summer with Courtney, Dave and some friends.

That's it for me......I do have a devotional post I will be getting up here sometime over the weekend....hopefully later Friday night, about something the Lord showed me through my gardening this afternoon. It is about "getting to the root issues" of our hearts.  So...feel free to check it out...would love to know your thoughts!

HAPPY WEEKEND, EVERYONE!

I had to laugh at how it took you a month to find that particular juice. All the GOYA products are very popular here and in most all of the stores; very popular with our Hispanic population.

I enjoyed the pics of your faves; hope you have a great weekend! :)

Well, it looks like you're all ready for a wonderful after prom party. What a special weekend for Courtney.

I remember tasting pear nectar somewhere and really liking it. I should look at the import section see if I can find it.

I've always put dracena spikes into my flower pots to give them height but never thought to put them into the ground. It looks great. I'll have to remember that for next year along my driveway!

Hi Mrs C: well, if I had known Goya had it, it wouldn't have taken a month..we have a fairly large Hispanic section right in the grocery store I do business with :)

Erin: Junior Prom is Saturday nite, on the Hudson River Cruise boat thing outta the city where our old church is located. :)

Susanne: Yes, I usually had the Dracona spikes in pots too but this year decided on the trellis box...they're doing well so far....hope they last as long as they did last year (Nov!)

Jill: oh my gosh...when I see you on Sunday you MUST give me directions on how to get to that creperie!!! Is it in Lake George??

Oh girl I'm glad you could pause a moment and get these favorites recorded. I'm tired just thinking about all the events you had and are having this weekend. Praying right now for lots of strength and joy throughout!!

Hi Brenda! YES...we are hosting one f the post prom parties....it helps that none of the teens in C's group have their drivers licenses yet....they all have one more class...this way the limo brings them right back here and they will have a huge bonfire, snacks, etc.

Ellen: yeah...I tend to be super busy during the school year...and then everything is outdoors come summer...we have 13 more days of school and it seems that May and June are the very busiest months for end of year activities! Am looking forward to getting up at 6:30 instead of 5:30...I might even sleep in til 7:30 some days :)

What a lovely week you had! And such beautiful scenes to enjoy on your kayaking visit. I know I've treasured the one on one time with my mom -- hope your daughter will remember it with fondness, too.

Sounds -- and looks -- like you had a great week. I'm checking into FFF late this weekend (busy time), but wanted to stop by anyway.

Great family times -- concerts, crepes, canoes! Great memories.

Happy week ahead!
