I love the month of August.....our summer begins to have lazy days and I find many more opportunities to relax with fave books/family/friends/hiking/biking/kayaking, etc. etc.
Join us as we celebrate 5 faves from the last week with our gracious hostess, Susanne from her blogsite. To play along, link up over there and/or leave me a comment...I'll drop in to visit your list!
Here are 5 things that really blessed me, or made life simple, this week:
These Yellow Wildflowers growing in our wildflower patch in the backyard. I didn't realize they'd come up again this year.....my youngest daughter planted the seeds in April of 2009....so this was a nice surprise to see them again this summer!

A day at the Great Escape (6 Flags Lake George). Our church's Youth Pastor managed to get half-price group tickets for any one involved in the Youth Group....so we took advantage of it. The weather was perfect. No humidity and temps in the high 70's with bright, blue sky. This picture captures one of my fave moments there:

This flat-bread makes delicious wraps. I prefer them to regular tortillas. The one I tried is Light Italian Herb. They are 100% stone ground whole wheat. They contain 9 grams of fiber and only 90 calories! I have made them twice this week for lunch by adding fresh, sliced deli turkey, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, romaine lettuce, chopped tomatoes, pepper strips and a drizzle of Creamy Vidalia Onion dressing.
Old Navy Sales! I took Claire, my 11 yr old, shopping yesterday because our beach date in the mountains had to be cancelled due to thunderstorms up there. So....since she has grown 4 inches in length and 5 lbs in the last year, I decided it was time to get new jeans for "back to school". It's not difficult trying on jeans and long-sleeved shirts on a hot, hazy day when stores have AC! We were blessed by the Lord! All jeans for children were on sale for $10. a pair. Shirts were $6.00 if you bought 2. Adult jeans were on sale for $15.!! Since the jeans were so inexpensive, I was also able to get her the down vest she wanted for cooler weather. Here's the jeans I bought for my self.....and the cashier said the sale is going on until the middle of the month!

2 Girls Nites: my daughters and I had 2 evenings this week where we just watched a movie after a late dinner. None of us had plans on Monday or Tuesday evening, other than my husband who dashed off to teach his high school boys group. Courtney had been wanting to see "Remember the Titans" and I found this movie for Claire who is all things elephant when she is not all things ballet! (she collects elephants). I found both movies at the library so we didn't even spend any money! I made popcorn (ice cream for Claire) and we just enjoyed 2 fun evenings. Both movies were excellent and I highly recommend them. The first movie touches on racism in the 1970's and is appropriate for ages 10 and older (in my opinion...it is rated PG.) The "Running Wild" movie is a bit violent in spots (elephant poaching) but it is realistic fiction and rated "parental discretion". I found it to be a movie for about ages 6 and older. Both movies are "feel-good" movies to quote my teenager. We just loved spending the time together.

I love to find 'volunteer' flowers in my garden!
Yay for movie nights with daughters!
Great sale! Glad you had a good time shopping.
Your August sounds like my July. Hope you enjoy it. The wildflowers are beautiful.
Nice list. I also like wildflowers and flatbread. My 17 yo daughter and I enjoy our girl nights, too :). By the way, your daughters have very beautiful smiles.
Have a blessed weekend in the Lord!
I thought all wildflowers were perennial... no? I LOVE those Flat Outs too! I like the sun dried tomato flavor! Mmmm Mmm! Instead of shredded cheese I always spread a little cream cheese on the closing end... it helps to "glue" it shut! LOL!
Isn't Old Navy the BEST?! I love it!
I have heard about the flat bread and can't wait to try it!
Love those surprise wildflowers! And your Girls Night sounded SO nice to this mom of four boys!! Have a great week. I'm off to check out Old Navy!
I had a movie night with my oldest girl this week. Just the two of us while the other two were at work. We watched an old favorite and had some good laughs together. It was really nice.
We don't have a Old Navy (which really boggles my mind because we have all the other jean stores)so we have to go to the bigger city to go there. I can never find anything to fit my body type there though my son usually finds great things there for a good price.
Love wild flowers. There is just something about them.
