THANKS!
Here we are.....in the second week of August! Summer is starting to fly by for me......
It's been a difficult week in some ways. but...it started out in a wonderful way. I'll highlight five of my fave moments or things.
1. Kayaking with my oldest daughter on Fourth Lake, in the Eastern part of the Adirondacks. This lake is part of Lake Luzerne State Park. We used to camp here often in the mid-1990's. Now we typically just enjoy the lake and park for a day trip. We had so much fun kayaking together from the boat launch over to the public beach.

2. Kayaking with my husband Dave on the same lake mentioned above. After Dave and my youngest brought the car back to the beach parking lot, we unloaded picnic items, set up our beach spot, left Courtney to watch Claire swim, and we took off in the kayaks. We explored the entire lake...even the little outlets (there were 2). One outlet led to a stream that was unnavigable but we sure had fun trying!

3. Mini-golf and excellent ice cream at this fantastic establishment (after our swim/kayak/dinner picnic)
The four of us had so much fun together. Now, my dear husband would much rather have stayed home during the day, sitting at his laptop and working on some fiction he is creating. My oldest would have rather texted and/or hung out with friends all day. I really wanted us to be together....just the four of us. Most of our summer weekends have included other people. I really just wanted to get to "my" mountains and enjoy a day in the sun and water. How refreshing it was to just hang loose, play some "putt-putt" and eat delicious ice cream before heading back down the mountain to the highway towards home.
4. Monday, my sister (Hope) and I headed to the south/central region of the Adirondacks to visit my elderly Aunt Martha. What a godly woman!! She was thrilled to see us....it had been a number of years since I visited with her.....and I was so happy to have finally gone up to her village. She lives on the same road she grew up on.....and where my parents had a camp when I was a child/early teen. She told us many stories of her childhood....which was harsh.....and yet she has followed the Lord with all her heart, soul and mind. What a treasure she is. She is the oldest sibling of 9, and my mother's oldest sister. How I will always remember this visit!

5. Enjoying a beautiful Thursday evening on the deck with my good friend (& next door neighbor!) Melissa.
We connect every once in awhile.....she works full time so doesn't have time to hike, bike, and just hang out like in summers past. We had a great talk......just sitting...as twilight turned to dark, we just kept on talking. We made plans to take our youngest daughters to the beach tomorrow. Her oldest and husband have something else to do, and my husband and oldest are doing other things. We plan on heading up to Lake George to one of our fave beaches, about 10 miles north of the village. We are looking forward to a day of swimming, shopping, and sunning!
Those are my five favorite ways the Lord blessed me this week.
As I type this, it is late in the afternoon. I have had a FULL day. I had to have my self and the girls up early (6 a.m.) for a college visit in Albany. It is only about 8 miles to the south of us but with the commuter traffic it takes awhile to get in to the college. It was a great visit.......after a fast food lunch we came home to check mail, email, and then I got to my dusting and vacuuming. Tonite we plan on eating on the deck with grilled lemon salmon, parmesan orzo, and a huge tossed salad. We will follow this with frozen chocolate pie. My diet starts Sunday......lol.....
Happy Weekend, everyone.......Blessings to you!

Everytime I read about your family kayaking it just makes me want to go out and buy a bunch of kayaks! :vD It sounds like so much fun and looks so peaceful to be out on a lake. I love mountains and lakes.
How nice that you are friends with a next door neighbor and can just enjoy sitting out on the deck in the evenings. That is a real blessing.
Thanks for being such a faithful part of FFF, Faith. I have so enjoyed getting to know you a bit over the last year through the FFF and your posts and emails!
Thank you, Susanne!! Kayaking is not pricey which is why we do it. We bought those green kayaks you see in the pics about 3 years ago now...they are the "cheap ones" for ocean kayaking but work very well in the lakes. We are slowly upgrading....we have the tandem which was pricey but that kind are. We are going to sell the green ones and upgrade to ones like it that are a bit longer (still ocean style) and are lighter weight. It is a good investment. I have also enjoyed getting to know you. These types of posts are fun! And it is great to see how the Lord blesses each woman differently!
I can imagine the peace and tranquil out on the lake in a kayak somehow is a little scary for me but it sounds lovely.
Friends, sitting on a deck and drinking coffee feeling good.
I love your shot of the path I think it is at the mini golf.
Yeah got in!! Thanks!
Love the thought of kayaking! I have never tried it though. ONe day maybe.
Much love,
Angela
This sounds -- and looks -- like a lovely week! So nice to connect with family and enjoy the outdoors. It's so incredibly hot here, we find ourselves spending way too much time inside.
Hope you have a great week ahead.
It sounds like you're having an ideal summer... love coming here to enjoy all your fun! ღ
(P.S. Take me kayaking!)
E-mom: I would LOVE to take you kayaking but you live on the wrong coast....lol....:) (just joking...you just live so darn far away!!)
