Sunday Morning Thoughts

It's an overcast Sunday morning but praise be to God, my soul is not downcast!

In prepping for church, my thoughts have turned towards the study book I recently completed titled Deeper: Living in the Reality of God's Love by Debbie Alsdorf

This book has been amazing.  What nuggets of truth have been written between the pages....what insight I have gained into my own personal struggles, the struggles of certain friends in my life, the threads of others' influence over me and my family.......I WILL complete the book review one of these days.

For now...here is a great portion from the last section of the book:

"We all need to make the choice to simplify our lives.  In the midst of the drama of daily living and the confusion of real-life relationships, it will serve us well to be reset for living with a simplified plan."
(debbie alsdorf, pg 186)

The verses that go along with that are:
"Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind."  This is the first commandment. And the second is like it:  '"Love your neighbor as yourself.'" Matthew 22:37-39

and....."all things were created by Him and for Him."  Colossians 1:16

We were created by God and for God's purposes!!

We were created to love God and other people!

A deeper way of living....a new way of looking at things...life is not all about us (like I tell my teenager and tween)....
Yes we need to get counsel sometimes to aid us on our walk.  That usually requires sharing deeply with someone we trust.  Yes, sometimes that will get screwed up.  Perhaps the other person just can't handle your "drama".  Maybe the other person didn't know how to respond....maybe we are so consumed with our own stuff and in trying to grasp the healing we need that we neglect others......yes, sometimes this happens.

But...we don't linger in that!  We simplify and move on.  Simplify:  give it over to God after getting the help we need.....after taking a risk and reaching out....and allowing Him to take care of the rest!!

Made by God.
For God's Purposes.
Love our Mighty God.
Love the others He places in our lives.  Whether they love us back or not.

What choice are you gonna make today??

Go deeper???
"Oh taste and see that the Lord is good"

That makes so much sense, Faith. Simplify our lives does not just mean activities and things, but our spiritual clutter too. I love how you put "allowing Him to take care of the rest". How often do I not allow God to work it out for me.

This sounds like a wonderful book, Faith. Sounds like you're getting a lot out of it!

I like this especially: A deeper way of living....a new way of looking at things...life is not all about us (like I tell my teenager and tween).

I see you've written a fabulous post for Marriage Monday (chock full of good things.) I've skimmed it just now, and I'll come back and comment tomorrow when I have more time.

See you again soon... (((Hugs))) ღ
