It's the Friday before Christmas and time for the Friday Fave Five hosted by Susanne from over here. If you've never been over to her site, check it out!! This is a great way to look back over our week and find the little things that stand out or that the Lord blessed us with, that many of us call our "faves". My list includes:

- BIRTHDAY SURPRISES: my youngest gave me the book. My husband and I have enjoyed Steven Curtis Chapman's music since 1989. And I've been wanting to read their story/testimony ever since I learned that his wife had written about their tragedy and her own life story. God has done quite a work in their lives.... I can't wait to read it....am waiting til Christmas vacation! And this cd was a total surprise from my oldest. I have loved Annie Herring (and the 2nd Chapter of Acts) since my teen years, back in the late '70's. This album came out in the early '90's I believe, and I had it on tape. My oldest used to listen to it when she went to bed as an elementary child and one night she accidentally erased my very fave song from the tape! Now....many years later, she has surprised me with the cd.....and yes..."Wonder" is still my fave song from the album!

- CHRISTMAS MOVIE NITES: Saturday, Sunday, and Wednesday were all evenings that my youngest and I had no obligations. After dinner, she put on jammies and we curled up on the couch to watch some of her fave xmas movies. Of course I was also writing Xmas cards at the same time and have seen each movie many times over the years but this was so important to her....just spending some time with mom. It was lovely.

- PRETTY GLASSWARE: These are jam/pasta jars that I've been collecting for about 1 year now.....I simply use the contents, strip the paper off, wash in dishwasher on hottest cycle plus sanitary rinse and voila! Simple drinking glasses. For the small group Xmas party last week I took these satin ribbons and wrapped them around each glass. They were a hit!! So....I plan on buying some red and green ribbon and doing the same thing for our Christmas Eve luncheon with my folks. Meanwhile we are using them minus ribbons! Simple and charming.

- EARLY MORNING SKY: on Tuesday we woke up to a light snow on the ground. You could still see the grass and there wasn't enough to shovel but it was so pretty. However, the thing that makes my fave list is the way the sky looked just after I ate my breakfast...it was about 7 a.m and our sky to the east looked like the sky in this picture. (here in the Capital Region of NYS we have MUCH less snow than seen in this pic...my parents have lots of snow as they live in the central part of NYS and the western section has even more!) The way the sun was starting to come up behind large clouds with some patches of dark sky to the west, just reminded me of one of my favorite portions of Scripture which I often meditate on during the month of December. See the next fave for God's Words to us.

- ISAIAH 9:2 & 6 "The people who walked in darkness have seen a great Light; those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, upon them a Light has shined.....for unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given....and His Name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
What are some of your favorites from this past week? Has the Lord brought to your mind any particular Scriptures? Please share your thoughts in my comment section or link up your post with Susanne and we'll come visit!
ENJOY YOUR LAST WEEKEND BEFORE THE CELEBRATION OF THE BIRTH OF OUR SAVIOR AND REDEEMER!

Great list! I like your idea of putting ribbons around the jars; so pretty and practical!
Hope you had a happy birthday, and your Christmas is blessed, as well.
Homemade drinking jars, what a good idea - love recycled stuff.
Your morning sky is very nice after a small dusting. You don't get much snow I'm sure.
These Christmas movies over and over again but they watch them like it is the first time seeing them. You got your Christmas cards written good job.
Such a beautiful morning sky! It's funny - we're quite far north compared to you folks and we have no snow at all! Hoping for some for Christmas day though.
Love the Is. verse and candlelight. Advent candle lighting is one of my favourite parts of this season.
Many blessings!
Good stuff, Faith. I'm not sure I could bear to read Mary Beth Chapman's book. So sad. Looking forward to your review.
And happy belated birthday!!!
Love the music playing... Manneheim Steamroller?
What a creative and festive use for jars and ribbon. I will pass that tip onto my daughter as she is really into recycling.
I enjoy watching Holiday movies too. so far I've seen 5. I need to get out my Holiday Inn. It is so much more special when I have the opportunity to watch such a film with someone.
God's word is one of my fav's too. Thanks for sharing the verse and photo. Have a blessed Christmas.
What a great idea for drinking glasses! I may borrow that because when all the kids are home, we run out of glasses.
I love watching the classic Christmas movies too! White Christmas...
Happy Birthday, Faith! Hope you had a wonderfully relaxing day doing the things you love. Those are pretty nice gifts from your girls. I was especially touched by Courtney's creativeness!
Christmas movies is a favorite part of Christmas for me. The kind of year it's been though, we've only watched one so far. Hopefully more will come this week when my oldest gets home.
