Smiles, Snuggies, Spouse, Snow, and Submission

It's Friday.

It's bitter cold here in the Capital Region of New York State.

It's a great evening (I'm writing this on Thursday evening, to post early Friday morning!) to stay in, curl up with a mug of steaming hot pomegranate tea and a good book.  But first on to the Five Favorites from the past week.  As always, this fun meme is hosted by  Susanne from Living to Tell the Story.  This is a great way to reflect back on the week and find those 5 special blessings from God.  Join in!

  • SMILES!  My youngest daughter, Claire, was all smiles on Saturday afternoon. We had to drive to Saratoga Dance Store and get pointe shoes.  Her very first pair.  She was "over the top" excited and although the fitting took over an hour and we walked out with no shoes (we drove back up Monday to pick them up and sew the ribbons on), she was all smiles.  It made my heart swell with pride and love to see the look on her face. Ballet is her passion and it is something she excels at.....I love seeing my daughters so happy and grateful. She kept saying she couldn't believe she was finally going to be taking  a pointe class!

first time on pointe!
  • SNUGGIE TIME!  The girls and I wanted to watch a "chick flick" late Saturday evening.  So both girls got into their snuggies and actually "let" me sit in the middle....both girls cuddled close....it was awesome...my youngest was especially "huggy" and even my oldest kept fairly close.....the movie was pretty good, too!  One plus of winter.....movie nights!

Claire, age 12

  • SPOUSE COOKING!  Most of my Saturday involved getting the pointe shoes.  Saratoga Springs is about a 25 minute ride from our house but there is always so much traffic getting there.  Saturday was no exception.  I also had to do a bit of shopping with Claire in one of the malls up there so I didn't get home in time to make dinner......but...much to my surprise, my husband had baked some chicken, made stuffing and steamed 2 different veggies! He also treated us all to some peppermint chocolate bark candy that he got in his Xmas stocking.....huge hugs to my Dave!  He gave me a night off from cooking and we didn't even order out!  I love that he can cook!!

  • SNOW DAY!  Yup...we had our first official snow day from school.  Spent the day shoveling (twice!), Dave worked from home, we drank lots of coffee, read books, drank hot cocoa, and played in the white stuff.  Fun times...

We have snow!!

Who says the swing-set is just for summer??
  • SUBMISSION:  am just starting to read a book I never would have picked up if it hadn't been for the surprise I received from e-mom.  She sent me this book as I was a winner in her contest.  I normally wouldn't enter a contest for a  book about submission.....but....her book review, and the title, made me want to read... it sounded like a good one...and it is!  I highly recommend it!  I am just at the beginning but already am hooked in to these Biblical truths.  Submission is NOT what you think! :) (thanks, e-mom if you're visiting today!!)

Feel free to share a fave moment, food, book, Scripture, song...whatever...from your week.....leave me a comment or link up with Susanne.......

Have a great weekend...stay warm!

Sounds like a great week, especially the girls' movie night!

Love the snow pix! Thanks for sharing the link to the book. I think submission is under-rated in our culture and its hard to find good books about it. Have a great day!

Love the snow pics. We also had a few snow days this week, it was kinda nice but I was ready to get to work and get out of the house by yesterday and we did but we had a 2 hour delay for the kids school. I'm going to see if the book on submission comes in e-reader form and if it does I might get it for my Nook, it sounds interesting. Have a wonderful weekend, I didn't do a FFF and I also need to update my blog soon but just really haven't felt like it.

Congrats to your girl on progressing to en pointe! Love that photo of her--yes, she is definitely smiling :)

This Florida boy mom is a bit green with envy reading your post. Ballet, chick flicks with daughters, and snow! Three things that are foreign to me, unfortunately. Sounds like a wonderful week. Take care!

LOL, yes, of course I'm visiting today... and you're more than welcome, Faith. So glad you're enjoying your new book. I'd love to hear what thoughts strike you as new.

And I thoroughly enjoyed your "S" word FFF and all the photos.

Do they custom create those pink pointe shoes? Why did it take so long? To fit? And then you have sew the ribbons on. I do remember that part from my (long ago) ballet days, though I never got anywhere near dancing on pointe. Claire is such a cutie, and a lovely dancer!

Enjoy your weekend.

I missed Friday Fave Five today.....Love the fact that Claire got her pointe shoes, she looks so happy in that picture. :) Wow and you did get a lot of snow. :)
Thanks again for all your prayers for our family Faith....it really means a lot!!

The huge smile on Claire's face while on her pointe's is making me break out in a big smile, too!

You have had lots of snow! Those snugglies and movie are perfect for those cold nights.

A hubby who cooks. Now that is a blessing!

Made me laugh, what did we all get snow this week, lol.

Claire looks so excited in her pose.
I'm sure she enjoyed the shopping trip to the mall.

I could go for a snuggy, movie night and a hubby cooked meal, over due. Lucky you

I'm so happy about Claire getting her new shoes. I know absolutely *nothing* about ballet, but I can tell this is a really big deal for her. :)

Your outdoor pictures made me shiver a little. Our friends in Georgia were out of school all last week due to the snow and ice in the Atlanta area. They're just not prepared for snow there! Have a great week!
