No Place Like Home Faves

Friday.  Before Thanksgiving.

Can you say "Busy??"

But let's take a few minutes and reflect back on the 5 things that jumped out at us this week for being "faves"...I like to think of them as blessings from God.  Mine all center around my home......there truly is no place like home!

MY FIVE FAVES

  • HOMEMADE BREAD AND SOUP! Am thanking God for my bread machine that my mother bought me for xmas a couple years ago. I popped in the bread from here and yummy!!!  We had it with homemade Potato Parmesan Soup that simmered in my crockpot all day last Saturday.  You can find the recipe here....I found it in my Taste of Home Slow Cooker cookbook.....that is always a fave!

  • HUGS!  My youngest daughter gives the best hugs!! Her big sis gives great hugs, too but.....I am savoring all of Claire's hugs since she is the only one at home all year round now!  Every afternoon after school, when I walk in from work, she gives me a great big hug (unless she is totally engrossed in her homework!).  And every single night I still have to tuck her in and pray with her.  I LOVE that....even though she is almost a teenager, she still wants mama to hug her at night. Gotta love that!

  • HOME!  Being at home, busy after work and most of the weekend, was a fave this past week.  I think it was because I had a long weekend due to Veterans Day.  My hubby and I did some Xmas shopping together and I was able to get alot done that I used to do in my free afternoons.  Now that I'm working full time, I am finding that I am savoring my weekends for housework, projects, baking/cooking extra special meals, and just hanging out with hubby and 12 year old.  She and I watched The Hiding Place together last Saturday night, and it really opened up some great conversation.  I even included it in a post you can find here.  I love being at home in the late autumn/winter months...it's so cozy!  especially when all the housework is done! :)

  • Hunger for God!  I've been especially "hungry" for the Word of God this week....maybe it's because my quiet times are much more rushed these days....I need to find a new time to sit and soak in His Word to me.  I am really looking forward to doing this at the T----family beach house next week for Thanksgiving vacation.  The good news is: it's my sister-in-law's turn to cook dinner so we'll head to her place in Rhode Island around 3 pm.  She lives about 45 min from the beach house.  And then, Thursday nite, the 4 of us will be at the beach house with my husband's oldest sister.  I will  be there for a few days and the relaxing environment will allow me to spend lots of quality time in the Word.....AND I'll have lots of time to walk on the beach with my oldest girl who will be down from college.  I cannot wait!!

  • HUGE TRAVEL MUGS! I brew coffee and drink coffee every morning for Dave and I and after a mug or two with breakfast/showering/getting ready for work, I also bring a travel mug on the road with me.  I drink it while the students are doing their morning writing work and since the 2 students I work closely with are becoming a bit more independent with the morning routine, it allows me to savor my coffee before the start of a busy day back and forth between 2 classrooms.....coffee is a fave drink!

That wraps it up for me!  If you want to participate, head over to Susanne's at Living to Tell the Story and you can link up!

Have a Happy Weekend........If I don't get on here before Thanksgiving, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday (all the USA readers)......I will be participating in next week's FFF so see you then!

OMG (goodness) I can pratically smell the bread and see the steam rising. I'm hungry now.

I agree--there is no place like home! I love mine. Food, hugs, hunger for God--all favorites of mine too.

Funny ... I put home as one of my faves this week, too.

I do love to have the breadmaker and crockpot going at the same time. Kind of makes me feel like I am a boss and I have my cooks lined up working for me, LOL.

Your upcoming holiday sounds wonderful. Enjoy!

The bread machine sounds good. Wish there was a way to try one out before buying, lol!

That is a nice drawing of the house.

Your Thanksgiving plans sound very restful. My oldest son is coming here from RI. We haven't visited him up there yet. Well, I haven't -- my husband helped him move in. But I want to some day.

I just love the pic of Claire, look at those legs, no wonder she is such a great ballerina! I LOVE my bread machine too, my Mom got me one for Christmas several years ago never thought I would use it but after trying it I just loved it, love the smell of the bread cooking.

I LOVE Jerri's comment: I do love to have the breadmaker and crockpot going at the same time. Kind of makes me feel like I am a boss and I have my cooks lined up working for me."

I use my crockpot quite a bit. Now I need to get a breadmaker as I NEED some cooks working for me. (I wore out my first one.)

I will be trying the soup recipe you linked to.

Hunger for God is awesome. I'm there too.

I just noticed that all your faves start with an "H." Kudos on your creativity!

Have a great week, Faith.

This is a fantastic list! Fresh baked bread.. Yum.. and what a beautiful and talented young lady Claire is!

I hope that your travels are safe and that you have a wonderful time at the beach, and at your sister in law's Thanksgiving.

If I had more counter space I would love a bread maker. But mind you I'd probably gain about 50 lbs eating all that warm, fresh bread with lots of butter. So it's probably a good thing I don't have the space.

I need some of that home time. It's been so busy around here.
