Special Faves

This  week went by fast...and as of 3 pm this afternoon, I will officially be on Winter Recess...for an entire week!!

......but now it's time to reflect back on the week and find five faves.  This exercise is hosted by Susanne from Living to Tell the Story.

Find five faves from your week, write the post, link up and join in on praising God for His special blessings!

My Five Faves

A Valentine surprise from my husband!!
  • A KEURIG!  My husband totally surprised me with a new coffee maker...a one cup!  He said he got it because it is so much easier to practice hospitality (for my small group) with one of these machines. This way everyone can choose (or bring) their own K-cup flavor/brand and although it only makes one mug at a time....it doesn't take long at all!  It's also nice as he wants decaf in the early evenings, and I prefer one of the flavored coffees.  We will still brew a pot every morning in the regular brewer because I LOVE that digital brewer...it's my fave appliance...but this Keurig sure will come in handy!  I even made a special spot for it on my counter. He also bought me the filter for it so that if we want to use our regular coffee (not a K cup) we can....it saves money that way!!! So if you're ever in the Capital District area of NY, (Albany/Saratoga) come on over for a cup! Coffee time...always a fave!

  • FAMILY PRAYER!  On Monday evening, I had major joint pain in my right foot.  This has been happening on and off for the last 2 weeks.  We think it's connected to the residual lyme disease since I've had this kind of joint pain in other areas, on and off (worse in the winter months) for the last 9 years.  It was very painful and I usually have a high tolerance for pain.  AND my husband came home from work with eye pain! Very unusual for him.  After our daughter's pointe class, the pain was so bad, I had to ice the joint.  She became a little scared and started crying.  That's when Dave and I decided we needed to sit on the couch together, as a family, (minus Courtney who's away at Gordon College) and PRAY and lay hands on each other.  We talked to Claire a bit about why we were praying (to comfort her mind and to trust God to heal our bodies).  It was an excellent, poignant time. There is nothing like prayer to soothe one's worries, comfort a scared child, praise Him for our blessings and past answers to prayer,  and help us focus on each other.  And...Dave's eye is better and the foot pain has lessened over the last few days. Glory to God!  Prayer time with my family is always a fave!

  • The Pledge of Allegiance!  Click here to read why this makes my fave list!

  • THIS QUOTE!  a friend of mine on Facebook had this quote up.  It's a good one.....I don't usually "give up" on someone, and as a Christian, I don't really even believe it is Christ-like to "give up" on someone...however....there comes a time when you do realize that the other person doesn't get it....and doesn't care.....I'll be posting about this concept more next week and how God brought me through a difficult time regarding a  broken friendship....the truths He showed me, through other people's wisdom, counsel and knowledge...and the fallacies that Satan would love us to believe....AND the power of forgiveness, mercy, and grace...and what the Scriptures have to say about restoration!  NOT giving up is always a fave...and giving up for the right reasons is now a fave......

  • DESSERT NITE!  The small group I lead had a meeting last evening and while we were discussing Chapter 9 from the current study, we had a special "dessert/treat" night....in recognition of Valentine's day......everyone brought something chocolate to share:  I contributed the dark chocolate Dove hearts and mocha bars.  We had chocolate covered blueberries (YUM!!), an assortment of special chocolates, chocolate truffles, and a strawberry creme cake (I gave my piece to my husband later because I can't eat strawberries).  Chocolate, coffee, Bible Study with close friends, and excellent discussion with fellowship is always a fave!
Did you have any special faves this past week??

Lots of people I know LOVE those K cups. Glad you got one! And yay for chocolate! That is always a fave. I love that your family prayed together and laid hands on your foot. Me and Donny pray together regularly. It helps to keep our marriage strong.

Enjoy your week off!

Love the picture of the family hands in prayer. There is definitely a comfort and strength when a family pauses to lift up an issue before the Lord together. So powerful!

What a sweet and thoughtful present from your hubby! I'll have a cup of any flavor and I'll please have a piece of that strawberry creme cake too! :vP

We enjoyed our daughter's Keurig and having our coffee tailored to our needs. I'm glad they have the option to use your own coffee in that special cup, too. Glad you were able to pray as a family and feel the calm and peace that the Lord is so willing to give us. Hope you have a wonderful weekend free of pain...

If you believe in something it surely helps that's like meditation in Yoga, only different. I very much agree with this quote, I just had such a bad experience behind me and it made me sad. It's like running against a wall which doesn't move.
