It's been a crazy, busy week. It all began last weekend....with yard work, spring cleaning a room, college daughter heading back to Boston, ballerina daughter's audition......oh my...read about THAT experience here.
Add to that mix, the 3 dress rehearsals she had until 6:30 pm every night until last night (opening night of the show) and dinner at 7 pm those 3 nights and I am exhausted...and sluggish because of lack of time to work out. But that is changing in a big way this weekend. My work-out routine is going to start up again today.....first with an early morning power walk and later in the day, before my in-laws arrive for dinner, by a bike ride. My goal is to ride 7 miles a day as long as it continues to be nice out. Once summer begins I can add another 3-4 miles...I can't wait!!
It's great to be able to look back at the week, busy though it was, and find blessings that God placed for our enjoyment. Join in on the fun by heading over to Susanne's site. She is our gracious host each week!

- HUSBAND's HELP! Dave voluntarily vacuumed the family room while I helped move the furniture to our spring/summer arrangement. He also surprised me Sunday evening by folding a load of towels and sheets that had been sitting in the dryer since early morning! and made most of our corned beef dinner on Saturday to help us celebrate St Patty's day! I loved every minute of his help and was so happy that I didn't have to make him one of my famous "to-do" lists. (He calls them "honey-do" lists.) Now...I wonder if I can get him to do more stuff this weekend......

- SOFT SKIN! Oh.My.Goodness. I FINALLY found a tanning moisturizer that does NOT turn my skin a weird brownish orange!! And it really does make your skin glow!! Once again, thanks to my sister Hope's Avon website (you can find it here and then click on her link), I bought a super Avon product. I tried an over the counter tanning cream about 5 years ago and HATED it. What a waste of money. I typically let the natural sun "tan" my skin carefully applying Neutrogena cream with an SPF of 30. BUT..with the very warm weather I wanted to wear short skirts and capris to work and didn't wanna have white legs. So...last weekend I started applying the cream. By Wednesday, I had a nice smooth glow....everyone commented on it at work. And I convinced a co-worker to give it a try. It smells great, feels smooth going on and really does a terrific job of moisturizing. I love this and will use it until probably June!

- RELAXING REISLING! Dave and I opened up a bottle of Reisling (from the Finger Lakes region of NYS...about 3 hours southwest of us) on Saturday evening and enjoyed a nice, chilled glass. This is my absolute fave kind of white wine. It felt so good to have the breeze blowing gently through the living room curtains, the glass of wine in one hand and a soothing devotional book in the other. I felt so relaxed after a hectic day!

- ENCOURAGING ENDEARMENT! Last Friday evening I received a message from the teacher of the Integrated 2nd grade classroom where I spend most of my day with 2 special boys. These boys also spend part of their day with me in their self-contained special ed room and a part of their day is 2:1 with me teaching them small group instruction. I like it. The teacher, E, is excellent but doesn't have a special ed background. She is Elementary Ed certified with her MS and she has a tough class. There are 4 children in there with IEP's and one who really has some behavioral issues and SHOULD have an IEP but the parents refuse. Her class is TOUGH. I, being the new one on that particular team, who didn't arrive until late October, have felt like she is so picky and never really gives much encouragement to me or the other aide. Until Friday evening. She sent me a message that just really endeared me to her. We have been a good team but I haven't felt connected with her in the process of helping these boys. Ever since she sent me the message (some of which is very private about her self and her teaching, so I won't write it here) with a COMPLIMENT on the job I am doing (total surprise!!), I have felt led to pray for her. And this week was so much fun! I really enjoyed being in that room this week...we had so much fun together and with the children. I think the rest of the year is going to go a lot smoother. It's really important to be able to like everyone on your team and get along with them. I am so thankful for her note and I made sure I told her. She was very happy.......and I was so glad we got to share some personal things about each other in our messages. It's like we were both holding our breaths around each other....and now....it's such a blessing to work alongside her! I love how God works!!
That wraps it up for me.
It's early in the morning. I'm going out for my power walk because there is no school today due to workshop day for head teachers. Claire is sleeping in after performing in the opening night show, and later this afternoon my wonderful in-laws are coming all the way from Boston to see Claire in Beauty and the Beast at the Junior High. Dave and I are going tonite as well and so is her youth pastor and his family. She is so excited! The weekend is going to be one of reconnecting with my husband after a crazy, busy week, and just getting Claire to her last 3 performances. I might do a little yard work if it doesn't rain and I will definitely be working on cooking/baking/spring cleaning and the Bible study book for the next meeting.
Whatever you do, have a relaxing, refreshing weekend, marveling at God's creation and the start of spring!!

I'm going to check out that creme from Avon. My daughter will love it if it works as well as you say. She has a strapless grad dress and her skin is naturally really white so she'll be thrilled if she can have a bit of a glowing look.
Nice to get encouragement from the head teacher of your team.
I'll bet Claire is exhausted. Yikes, that is a lot. What a little go-getter.
Have a wonderful weekend, Faith. In spite of all my raving about spring, we've got snowfall warnings today. LOL. I shouldn't have spoken so loud. It heard me.
Hi Susanne!! yikes to the snowfall predictions! I just did a 4 mile walk with my neighbor..felt so good in the morning breeze and partly sunny skies. The avon worked GREAT for me...a little too great..my feet are browner than the legs...oops...tell her to be careful with the feet..i think i put too much on. am gonna not do any today or tomorrow to let my legs catch up! :)
How wonderful that you received that affirming message from the teacher and that it has helped you in your responses to her. What a blessing. I also think it's fabulous that hubby gave a helping hand at home...sweet. That Reisling looks good! Have a great weekend.
That is so cool about your coworker. How neat the way He works, you're right.
Wonder how that cream would work on a fair, freckled redhead...?
Love your springy pictures! And kudos to your for your walking and biking. (Puts me to shame!) Take care.
Yay for Dave helping!! The flowers are gorgeous. And I LOVE the little wooden eggs! Glad you are connecting with your coworker. Sounds like it was a great week. And once again - thanks for the free advertising : ) Maybe I'll try that product. I am SO WHITE!!
LOVE Avon products!! I started using their shampoo/conditioner!
Love your pics! Especially the eggs in the basket!
That's awesome that Dave helped. Joe does the vacuuming here because he knows I hate it : )
Reading about that message from the teacher reminds me that whenever I have the opportunity to encourage someone I should just do it. You never know how it can change the atmosphere and the other person.
Love those little wooden eggs in the nest! (I have a wooden woven basket but no eggs--hmm, maybe felted wool eggs would work...)
If you lived nearby we could walk and bike together!
For the moment we have spring and I enjoy it ! My husband has to help, lol because we are BOTH retired, so we have to share the household too !
It's amazing how ONE word of encouragement or something personal can change a relationship. It really goes to show how important it is to show and be love to others.
I'm a former teacher and your situation and the teacher's sounds really tough!
It was definitely a beautiful week here in NY! I'm sorry you were so busy, but I'm glad to read your husband was such a blessing to you!
I loved the story about you co-worker. Isn't it amazing that we can be right beside a person and not know them? It is a good reminder to let people know how much we appreciate them. It changes everything.
I hope that the performances went well, and that you are all enjoying the weekend.
Catherine
By now all the performances are over, your visitors are gone, and you all are starting a new week. I hope all went well, great memories were made, and that there's plenty of energy for what's to come this week. :)
So glad you feel connected to your teacher now. That was an awesome turn of events following her encouragement note.
Thanks for sharing. I have been thinking about and wanting to write some notes of encouragement to my volunteers. After reading this, I will make it HAPPEN this week.
LOVE tan legs - not that I have them very often because I do not LIKE the sun or to get hot. Maybe I will give the Avon product a try. Once it the distant past I used an OTC tanning cream and the experience was NOT a good one. ;)
Have a lovely week!
