Answered Prayer Faves

Friday!!

and a dress-down day at work because our elementary school is raising money for a needy family.............always a blessing to be able to give!

And for the next 3 Fridays after today,  school is closed!

It's been quite a week.......lots of answers to prayer which is always a blessing!  These situations make my fave list because it's been awhile since I've posted about answers to prayer and I think it's good to share how God moves in our lives so we can encourage each other.

Join in with the Friday Fave Fives by linking up your post over at Susanne's, our gracious host!

FIVE ANSWERS TO PRAYER!

  • SEEDLING PLANTS!  My cherry tomato seeds actually took!  My first attempt at cherry tomatoes in a container kit. I prayed that this would work because in about 5 weeks, I will need to get them into a larger deck container and outdoors.  What a blessing.......(now I'm praying I don't screw up the next step!)

Courtney at the Gordon Globes!
February 2013
  • SUMMER JOB!  Our oldest child is home on Spring Break so we encouraged Courtney to look for a summer job early this year. On Tuesday she had an interview and they hired her on the spot! Yeah!!  She'll be working right here in town at this fun place!  AND....the woman who did the interviews said, because she is a graphics major, her name is going on a list for a special project they have planned for art students.  This is a huge answer to prayer for her and for us.  It's a blessing that she already has a summer job lined up and can finish out her semester at college with no worries about income coming in over the summer.

Herkimer, NY
  • SAFE FRIENDS AND FAMILY!  By now, most of you have probably seen on the news, the 2 small villages in Central NY, about an hour west of where I live now with Dave and the girls.  4 men were gunned down and 2 are wounded.  This is my childhood hometown where I grew up until moving away to the Capital Region in 1986 as a grad student.  I grew up in Herkimer and my parents and younger sisters moved to Mohawk during my college years. Well, when I heard about the mad-man on this shooting rampage, I became concerned for my friends and family who still live in that area. The first murders took place at a barber shop my dad went to and it's just down the street and around the corner from where he lives now!!  That is much too close for comfort. The gunman has since been killed but those 2 days this week were pretty scary for the residents in these quaint, small villages.  I was very saddened to think of my childhood hometown, always such a safe and peaceful place, having to deal with this kind of violence.  My sister Joy  graduated from high school with one of the victims and I was friends in my high school days with a woman who was married to one of the victims.  A young co-worker of mine, whose dad is a few years older than me, knew 3 of the victims.  Such a tragedy!  I am so thankful my Herkimer friends and my dad are ok!! Please pray for these communities and for the residents there as well as for the families of the victims. Thank you!
  • THANK YOU NOTE!  The thank you note wasn't the answer to prayer, (it was for something small I had done for her), but  the person leaving it for me to find is the answer to prayer.  It was written by the teacher  whose classroom I work in  for most of the school day.  She is an excellent 2nd grade teacher and when I'm in there with the little  boy I help, she is all about including him with the rest of the class.  She is helpful, encouraging to me, and doesn't mind when I have to modify her lessons.  She totally gets me and my thoughts on inclusion with special needs children. She understands the constant in and out of the classroom we need to do with this boy due to his therapies and "special ed" times.  This is an answer to prayer because at the beginning of the school year, I was placed in a different room.  Her note was very touching, too and definitely met my love language :) It's a blessing to have friends in the work environment.

  • RAINBOW AND HAPPY MOOD!  Another answer to prayer was my youngest daughter's mood this week...well....for most of the week anyways. Age 14 is tough. She is an over-achiever, very driven, super busy with Honors classes, 4 ballet classes a week (one is on Saturdays) and rehearsals every day after school til 6 pm for the upcoming Spring Musical.  Add to that the stirring signs of hormonal changes, junior high angst and not getting enough sleep and.......sigh. It's tough to watch them go through these physical and emotional changes. I've been praying she will have easier moods and....one day she was just so calm and happy!  She had a clear glass of water and was holding it in the sunlight near the kitchen floor to make a "rainbow".  She called me in as she knows I love rainbows.  We had fun with the whole "prism" effect thing and I told her I was gonna snap a pic of it to share as a "fave".  The blessing is that she and I had this special, rare moment......and she didn't even mind that her foot got in the picture....(she is sometimes picky about letting her "ballerina feet" appear in pictures minus the pointe shoes!)
BONUS:  this Scripture.....it has been in my mind most of the week........

Enjoy the weekend, everyone!

What a scary thing in the town where your Dad lives. So glad he is ok.

It's sort of fun growing something right from the seed isn't it? I'm sure you'll be enjoying those as nice red cherry tomatoes.

That must be a huge relief for Courtney. One less thing she has to stress about. Enjoy her this week while she's home!

Great idea to list answered prayers! Sometimes we take that for granted, and we never should.

I've never had success with starting seeds indoors. After the time that fungus gnats started breeding in them, my husband put his foot down and said we'd buy plants.

I can relate about the teen years, as I have a 15yo son. I hear that daughters are more dramatic, though.

Glad your family and friends are safe, and your daughter already has a summer job lined up!

I am so glad that your family and friends are safe. How very scary.

I have to wait another couple weeks before I can start my seed because I cannot plant outside until at least the beginning of June, but I am looking forward to it. My garden always makes me happy, even when I have to buy some plants from the market. I've had mixed success with seeds, but it's always a learning experience that I am happy for!

I hope you get many more moments of peace with your daughter. My girl is only going on 8, but she is quite dramatic and emotional so I am expecting interesting teenage years.

Have a lovely week.

Sounds like a great week. Praise God for answered prayers. Wednesday and Thursday were really scary esp for us we live a few blocks from where the shooting was AND the holdup. Very nerve wracking. We did, however, realize who our true friends were through this and I think God revealed a lot to me in the time we were "prisoners" in our home for over 24 hours because some maniac was "on the loose".

Yay for Courtney's job!! It's great that she is driven, there are so many people her age (and older!!) who don't have the motivation.

Have a great weekend Faith :)

All of these shootings are such a tragedy. I'm glad to hear that your loved ones were not hurt but it does seem to be very close to home for you. Glad the rest of your week was good. Yay for your daughters!

What a sweet moment with Claire! And what a blessing for Courtney to have landed a summer job already. That is great. Our youngest is home this week and he got his job lined up, too. SO glad.

Hope you have a great week ahead, Faith.

So glad your Cherry Tomatoes seem to be growing. Praying they do well on the deck too!

That's awesome about your daughter too!! :)

I didn't hear about the shooting. I know how it is though to worry. We live in a huge city and there is always shootings. My husband is a State Trooper and I worry about him too. So glad your family and friends are okay!

I love cards of any kind! That was kind of her to send you one. I send out birthday cards for the church.

I have 3 boys. I am curious to see how the teen years are ha!
