January Faves

Well, we are all back at school/work and it was a rather routine week.  At first I wasn't sure I could come up with "five faves" but then I realized that there are blessings in every.single.day.  We just might have to look for the simple things.....the  not obvious.

I'm joining in with a community of Believers who share five blessings each week and link up at Susanne's site.  How about joining in? Please feel free to comment and share at least one of your blessings this week.

  •  FIRST HIKE of 2016:  Partly sunny.  Temps in the low 30s.  2 inches of crunchy snow. Mud. Ice. Friends. Round trip was a little over 3 miles. I'm so thankful I was able to organize this group of hikers...some were brand new to hiking and were under age 21!  What a fun day and only 45 minutes north of my house.....and it was a new-to-all-of-us trail!  Joining me was my friend Kathy and my friend Diane and her entire family (husband, 2 sons and their girlfriends). Last Saturday was just perfect....the only thing that would have made it even more perfect was if my husband and Kathy's  could have joined us.  (our children refused....no surprise there...they claim I've dragged them on enough hikes).

  • iPad program!  This week, upon returning to the Kindergarten classroom, I was taught (by one of the speech therapists) this program to use with one of our non-verbal (mostly) special needs students.  What amazing technology!! It's easy to use and really helps the student have a voice. It is especially useful for students on the autism spectrum.  I'm so thankful we have this program for this particular student!

  • HAIR APPOINTMENT:  I had my hair re-shaped because the left side was getting too long. (my left, your right :) ) Because I'm growing out layers from a short crop last summer, the asymmetrical short bob I'm going for seems to be taking forever!  But...with this new re-shaping, my left side is shorter again and the right just needed to be texturized.  I love it...super easy and I don't need to blow dry unless I want to....I just towel dry, put in a small bit of gel and finger comb.  Thankful for good stylists!

  • NEW DUFFLE BAG:  My youngest sister Jill sells Thirty One.  She had an after Xmas sale so I ordered the above duffle bag for weekend trips...we have several coming up when we take Claire to visit colleges.  I love it! Mine is monogrammed with my first initial in a light blue "F".  I love the fact that it's waterproof, is roomy and has an outside zippered pocket.  Thankful for after holiday sales!!

  • EVENING COFFEE:  The beginning of  the week was bitter cold and in those evenings, after dinner, I made my self a steaming mug of coffee with one of our many different flavored K-cups....there's nothing like a good strong cup of coffee after dinner, to chase away the chill. Plus it gave me a spark of energy to do a couple of chores around the house and work on my upcoming small group lesson.  I'm thankful for warm houses ,a Keurig so I don't have to get the brewer dirty (plus, we set up the coffee maker after dinner with our breakfast coffee so it's already to start brewing at 5:45 a.m.!)  and coffee! I've been especially enjoying the Wicked Winter blend by Green Mountain and the Cinnamon Dulce by Starbucks.
That's a glimpse into my week........

......what about you? What is one fave from your week??

Great post, Faith. I have a "messy bob" (yes, there is a thing) that can go a couple of months and then it has to be fixed. Have a Happy Friday, friend...and one happy thing, counting the days down for school to start back, wink.

It's good to find blessings in even the "little things." I like you new haircut! It looks cute. I can't drink coffee late in the day or it keeps me up at night, but I sure do enjoy a couple of cups in the morning. I hope you have a great weekend. :)

What a neat thing that iPad program is! I am amazed at people who can create those things. I like to end the day with a cup of decaf coffee (have to go decaf due to a heart rhythm issue). It hits the spot. Sounds like you had a great first week of the year.

Nothing like a good haircut to put a bounce in one's step! Very cute cut. I also like that duffle bag:) Happy New Year to you, Faithe!

I love that Thirty-One bag!! I got a tote from the sale to store my wallets and stuff in, and a cute little wristlet and another caddy.

I'm glad you're still hiking!! I need to start that up again now that my hip is in better shape thanks to PT.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm evening coffee....or any time coffee!!!!

Hi Faith - I love your hair. I had to have mine shaped up a bit after Christmas too. If I lived near you, you would have another hiking friend for sure - I love hiking - hubby not so much (unless we are on vacation). Wish I had a friend/group to hike with. Lovely views. Sounds like you had a nice week. Hope the coming week is just as good!

That technology will be SO helpful for the student--it's amazing, isn't it?
Oh, those hikes! You know I am always interested in where you've been hiking!
Also, I'm intrigued with that weekend bag...perfect for our quick trips...I'm going to look at them.

Oh I cannot drink coffee after dinner though I would love to. Have to stick to herbal teas. Good thing I love them too. Loving that weekend bag. Beautiful hike you went on.
