It's the Little Things Faves

It's Friday and time to share FIVE of my FAVE things from the past week.  I'm linking up at Susanne's site to join other bloggers in finding the blessings of God.

This week, it was the little things in my daily walk that made my list.

  • IN HOME DATE NIGHT:  Last weekend, Dave and I really needed a "date night" but neither one of us felt like going out.  So, after dinner, we curled up on the couch in our lounge wear, made hot drinks and watched this movie together.  It was one of the 4 I bought him for Valentine's day on a DVD set that features Jimmy Stewart movies.  Dave collects the old classics and this set contains 4 we have never seen.  It was a great flick and based on a true story of a baseball player for the Chicago Sox who ended up getting part of his leg amputated.  Excellent movie.

  • GOOD WORK-OUT:  Saturday morning, we headed to the gym because we both have been fairly lazy for over 2 weeks.  Somehow, going to the gym together always makes it more fun and easy.  I used the treadmill and the elliptical and Dave used the treadmill and a shoulder cardio thing.  I have no idea what it's called but he got a good work-out.

  • High Honor Roll:  our youngest daughter (grade 11) made the High Honor roll for the 2nd quarter.  She received a perfect score on her Business final exam.  And an almost perfect score on her Russian mid-term.  Actually, all of her mid-terms were above a 92%.  All of her hard work has paid off.  I'm thankful for her perseverance.

  • EASY DINNERS:  This week I was on a roll.  I had made up a menu plan on Sunday afternoon and I pretty much stuck to it.  I cooked all homemade meals all week long and every single dinner was quick and easy.  One fave from the past week was the bison macaroni soup I simmered in the crock pot all day......it was a huge hit with the family!  Another fave this week was the quinoa and veggie bowls with shredded cheese and tortilla chips.  YUMMY!

  • COZY CANDLE:  This past week has been mild (meaning no snow or super cold temps) but it has been rainy, grey, dreary, damp.  You know...that March feeling but it's only February.  So each afternoon after work, I lit my candle I received from a coworker and I love how the house smells when it is going.  "Winter glow" is a mild scent so no one in the house is bothered by it.  It's so cheerful sitting on the kitchen counter while I'm prepping dinner.  I leave it on until bedtime!

Those are just some little things that brought a smile to my face and peace in my heart.

How about you?  What were you blessed with this past week?

I'll have to check out that candle. Really strong scents tend to over power us here too. And I'm going to check the library for that movie, I've never heard of it but do love movies based on true stories. Congrats to your daughter!

My candles are mostly burnt to nothing, so I'm in the market for some new ones. I like the lighter fragrances. It sounds like a lovely week! Enjoy the weekend, Faith.

I love Jimmy Stewart movies but had never heard of that one - it sounds good! In-home date nights are my favorite. Congratulations to your daughter! I love easy dinners.

Lots of good things here! I don't think we've ever seen that movie. That's nice that you can workout together. I like walking with Dear. Hope you have a great weekend!

I love candles on a winter night (but they have to be odorless because of allergies)
Your easy meals are what I need. I cook up one or two things and we eat on them all week--boring :)
Congrats to your girl on her grades!
In our opinion here at Willow's Cottage, any movie with Jimmy Stewart will be a winner.
