It's time to take a break in our busy week and look for the blessings among the ordinary. Maybe there are just ordinary blessings! Most of mine this week are nothing spectacular....just little things that I'm thankful for. I'm sharing FIVE of them....my FAVES and linking up at Susanne's site with other thankful people.
- SAFE TRAVELS! On Sunday morning, Claire picked up another UNH student who just happens to go to our church and who lives in the same town where I work, and they traveled back to UNH. Spring Break was over and they have just about a month of classes left before final exams. I was so thankful that the day was sunny and that they arrived back in NH safely.

- SPRING! Spring arrived on Wednesday and oh what a glorious first day of spring it was!! Temps rose to the high 50s and the sun was out all day. The birds are singing in the early morning hours and there were 3 robins in my backyard when I left for work. I had a half day with the students and then CPR training; after work I walked on the town bike path and did some reading in the bright sunshine on a bench near the river. Below are some photos from my late afternoon in the sun. I'm very thankful it is Spring!!

Enjoying the sun and my book |
- SUNSHINE! For four days straight we had glorious sunshine and warmer temps. On Wednesday after walking for a bit on the bike path, I took my book and sat on one of the benches by the river, facing the sun and read for about 25 minutes in the fresh air. It felt so good! All I needed was a light jacket. It actually gave me enough energy to go grocery shopping before having to go home and cook dinner. What a way to spend the first day of Spring....I'm so thankful I took the time after work to do this.

Chia Seed Protein Bites |
- SNACK! Last Saturday I made Chia Seed Protein Bites for a special snack for Claire to take back to her dorm. They are totally plant based and so easy to make. And so delicious. Packed with super foods! (honey, almond or peanut butter, oats, chia seeds, cocao nibs or vegan chocolate chips, coconut). There are about 9 grams of protein in each bite I believe. They are perfect for snacking on. I sent her to school with one container and kept the other one here to use all week in lunches or an after work snack. You can find the recipe under my label "faithfixes desserts". I'm thankful for easy, healthful snacks!

- SERVICE! My husband Dave was selected to be the featured volunteer in this past week's church Facebook post titled "Celebrate our Volunteers". There was a nice write up about his service as a youth group leader of the Middle School students. He is shown here with two of the boys from his small group that he leads on Wednesday evenings. I'm thankful we are in a great church with a large, vibrant youth ministry and that the youth ministry includes a separate Middle School and High School youth group. (Middle School is 6th-8th grades; High School meets on Thursdays and is 9th-12th grades).
That wraps up my faves and I just noticed that all 5 begin with the letter "S"! kinda funny since I had Spring on my mind!
I hope whatever you have planned for the weekend is something you love to do and that you have a restful Sabbath time.

Good morning, Faith! I'm happy to know that Claire and her friend made it safely back to school after spring break! We mothers always breathe that sigh of relief when we know they are safe, yes?
Spring has sprung here in WV too! It has been wonderful to see sunshine several days in a row and wear lighter weight jackets and sweaters.
What a blessing that your husband was featured on your church's FB page. It is easy to see that the boys are enjoying spending time with him. And it is wonderful that the middle school and high school times of meeting are different.
I plan to make protein bites this weekend, too! I'll check out the recipe I use with your recipe.
Have a wonderful weekend, Faith.
I love the first day of spring, too, and we've had some lovely spring weather and sunshine to celebrate with this week. So glad Claire's trip went safely and she had a companion to travel with. I've never had chia seeds, but I have developed digestive issues over the last several years, so I printed out the recipe. We sometimes have 6 or more hours between lunch and dinner, so I usually need a snack mid-afternoon. So nice that your husband was featured for his service. That's a nice picture.
Spring moved in here too ! What a delight after 2 weeks of rain !
I love seeing all the photos of the first day of spring on FFF blogs. And love how you celebrated. Kudos to your hubby!
Spring sprung in a lovely way here too! So beautiful outside and then on Sunday we had a day of grey and snow and sleet. Typical of our spring, but I'll take it! Glad to hear that Claire made it back safe and sound. That is always a relief when our kids travel. The protein balls look delicious. Thanks for the reminder that I need to renew my first aid and cpr. :)
Hello Faith! What a wonderful service your husband is involved in with working with Middle School Students! Love that. Safe travels are always a praise with me and I'm glad your daughter had good weather for the trip back to school. Great group of S's! I'm very late in visiting but I have good excuses. :)
