Spring Break Faves

It's been a nice week for Spring Break here in eastern New York!

I'm counting my blessings and sharing FIVE of my FAVES from the last week.  I link up at Susanne's site to join in with other people who are giving thanks as well.  Won't you join us?

EASTER 2019
  • EASTER! We celebrated our 14th Easter in our church Grace Fellowship/Latham. Oh what a wonderful morning of worship, praise, and hearing an amazing sermon.  We just loved it. We also loved that our oldest daughter sat with us during the service instead of her group of friends.  It was very special to this mama's heart.  Then the three of us drove north to meet my sister Joy and her son Luke for a yummy dinner at this place.  I had one of their Easter specials:  Baked Haddock with a mango salsa, cold orzo salad, asparagus and a mimosa.  It was delish! I'm thankful we had a nice relaxing day with family.

  • FLOWERS!  My tulips opened up this week and sadly, out of about 30 bulbs, only 7 survived.  We think a rabbit or the squirrels got to the bulbs last fall.  We've had a rabbit living under our deck for awhile now.  We don't want to treat the bulbs with any chemicals so now I'm researching how to save them when I plant more in the autumn.  There's got to be something natural that will keep the critters away! I'm thankful for the spot of color though.  I have other perennials that came up under the cherry tree but I didn't get a photo of those yet.  I'm also thankful the pear tree that our youngest daughter Claire got me for Mother's Day in 2012 is doing so well.  For awhile there we weren't sure about it.  I'm thankful for any kind of flower that blooms!!

front door spring wreath
  • SALE!   This past week, I noticed that a local arts and crafts store was having a big sale....40% off all spring and summer decor.  I grabbed this wreath because the one I used to use this time of year (Cherry blossoms) looks better on a white or cream door so I put the cherry blossom one on our kitchen side door and this new one on the front door.  We rarely use the front door but it looks so pretty!  I'm thankful for a good sale!

  • GIRLS DAY AWAY!  My sister Hope and I took Tuesday to go north to the southern Adirondacks and get 3 signatures in 3 towns that actually have less than 200 year round residents. (we are both working on this challenge) We did find human beings but it took some hunting!  We enjoyed our time walking along one of the roads to the waterfalls pictured above (I'm also doing the brand new 50 Waterfalls Challenge) We ate lunch in the little village where we had our family camp growing up, and then on the way back to where my sister left her car, we stopped for coffee at a little country cafe.  I'm so thankful we had that day together!

  • DECK TIME!  When I wasn't finishing up my spring cleaning (washing windows and curtains, wiping down cupboards, dusting baseboards, mopping) I was out on my deck enjoying my morning coffee and my library books.  Oh how I'm thankful I got the deck ready earlier in the week so I could enjoy it the rest of the week.  One day was too chilly so I did a lot of spring cleaning and errands that day.  I'm very thankful for restful times on our deck and bright sunshine.
That wraps up my week.

It's back to work on Monday and I'm looking forward to hearing how the students spent their spring break.....some of them will be able to tell us....others will just be happy to be back in a structured routine I think. (or at least their parents will be happy!).  Hopefully, they will remember the skills learned before break.

Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope it includes your favorite blessings.

HAPPY WEEKEND!

You had a great week! I know you loved those hikes.
Coffee on the deck sounds wonderful. I just put up our umbrella and moved our chairs over to the side patio. I'm ready for afternoons outside.
I hope your little ones will have had a restful time like you did.

Very nice week off you had! It's wonderful when our adult children join us in church. I love when my family is with me worshiping. The wreath does look lovely and stands out against that door. It would look lovely from the street. Yay for sales. I rarely buy anything like that anymore unless it is on sale. Glad you got some deck/reading/coffee time during your week off.
