I'm loving Spring this year!
April was very rainy for us here in eastern New York. But May is turning out to be rather lovely. Yes, we have had some rain this week but we've also had some beautiful Spring weather...one day even felt like early summer!
Spring is definitely a fave and I'm here to share FIVE things that I'm thankful for this week. I link up at Susanne's site with other people who are thankful as well. What makes you thankful today?
- YELLOW BLOOMS! There's just something that says "Spring!" when I see yellow blossoms. Add them to the bright blue and I'm loving it. Loved that they opened up over the weekend. So thankful for the colors of Spring!
- MULCH AND POTTED FLOWERS! Yes, I'm thankful for mulch. I'm thankful that there was a sale this past weekend....4 bags for $10! Dave and I ran over together on Saturday evening so that I could finish the mulching of the flower beds and get some pretty plants for the deck. He really liked the purple pansies so that's what we bought so far this year. I do have to re-pot them into bigger containers so I'll work on that at some point before too long. I'm thankful the mulching is done for the year.
- SUN!! Monday afternoon was just glorious. I had a lyme disease flare up over the weekend...a BAD one (it's been over 2 years since I've had a flare up) and sitting in the sunshine at 74 degrees after work on Monday was just what my body and soul needed. I'm so thankful I'm done in the classroom every day by 2:45/3 pm, so I can get home and enjoy the spring weather.
- TEACHER APPRECIATION! On Tuesday, it was National Teacher Appreciation Day. At the special education agency where I teach, we celebrated all week. We also include therapists and the 1:1 aides. Our site supervisor treated us to lunch, and a few special treats that she put in everyone's mailbox. One parent wrote my team a nice note thanking us for all we've done for her little girl the last 2 years. That particular child will head to a public school setting in the fall. Another parent sent in candy. Her child will attend our integrated room in the fall. And one parent sent in this little plant! We each got one. I chose the blue hedgehog. Blue because it's my fave color (besides green) and I've always wanted a hedgehog! Since they are very high maintenance, I will settle for this little plant. I've named her Herisson (French for hedgehog). And yes, the flowers are real! I'm thankful for the little boy (we get to keep him next school year, too!) and his mom for choosing such a cute gift especially because we did not expect gifts!
- WALKS: I'm thankful I was able to get in two evening walks this week as well as one walk during my break at work. I love walking in the spring weather!
Have a wonderful weekend! Dave and I will be in NH helping our youngest gal move her stuff out of the dorm and home for the summer and then we will all celebrate Mother's Day on Sunday...the whole family together!
HAPPY MOTHER's DAY TO ALL OF YOU WHO ARE MOMS!

I hope you're feeling better now and have a good celebration on Sunday,
How nice Claire will be home for Mother's Day! That hedgehog planter is so cute. The flowers are pretty, too. I am sorry about the Lyme's flare-up - but glad you had some time to rest and recuperate.
That yellow flower is so, so pretty, and the hedgehog planter is darling! I'm glad you're feeling better. Happy Mother's Day!
Hope your Mother's Day was lovely and you were over that flare up. Soaking up that warmth and sunshine is definately good for body and soul. Hard to believe another year of Claire's school is done.
