Here its August already and just one more week of Summer School then a glorious 3-week vacation before heading back for the new year.
I'm pausing today to share FIVE of my FAVE blessings from the last week. It's been a crazy busy one and I'm exhausted today.
I share these things I'm thankful for because Susanne, our host, has spurred me on to find even small things in our week that made us smile. It's not always the big things.
FIVE FAVES
from the summit of Moxham Mt Central ADKS |
From the summit of Moxham Mt looking towards the High Peaks region |
On the summit of Moxham Mt Note the ridgeline! We had to hike over that. |
- SATURDAY MORNING HIKE: my friend Cindy R and I hiked up Moxham Mt early Saturday morning. We left my house around 6:30 a.m and were on the trailhead by 8:30. It was a glorious, hot day. The wind on the summit (It's small, elevation wise...less than 3000 ft) felt wonderful on our hot skin. We ate a leisurely lunch on top and then hiked back down, stopping for much needed ice cream at this amazing place. My first time this summer. I had the Chocolate Raspberry. I'm thankful for fun days like this!
- CHORES CHECKED OFF: Sunday I was able to check off a list of chores I had piled up on my "to do list". I'm thankful I got those things done!
- T-SWIRL CREPES AND DINNER ON THE DECK: Wednesday evening, we all had different times we could eat dinner. So I ordered via Grub Hub, 4 crepes from T-Swirl as they are only open for delivery or take out at this time. Claire and I had the Vegetarian Lovers crepe, Dave had the BLT one and Courtney had the Thai Chicken one. All were delish and so well prepared. I'm thankful, too that I could eat dinner on the deck while Dave ate upstairs at the same time as his Zoom mtg with the youth group. I had the deck to my self and it was so peaceful.
- HUGS FROM MY YOUNGEST: Claire is something else. She always seems to know when I need a good hug from her. It needs to be on her terms and Tuesday she must have sensed that I was having a rough day because after her after-work shower (she comes home reeking of Starbucks) she gave me the BEST hug while I was cooking dinner. It made my day and I'm so thankful for her!
- THIS: This is what I've been dealing with for the last 3 weeks. Abby asked me to meet with her lawyer and answer some questions about what I observed when my husband and I attended that church from 1990-2005. I was able to give testimony to things I observed (some in my own house!!) and witnessed over the years regarding the perpetrator. There's way more to this story that I'm not going to get into on here at this time. One day I will. The timing is not now. Let's just say by talking with this lawyer, it triggered my own pain, even though I've been healed from the trauma for more than 15 years. Let's just say, justice will be done. I'm supporting Abby in any way I can. You can read about it here. The papers were filed Tuesday morning in court and by late afternoon, Twitter and one news source was covering it. This link is from either late Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Click here to read the story. I'm thankful Justice will be served. At least that's what we're hoping. (I have permission from Abigail to post about this).
That wraps up my week.
I hope you all have a fantastic summer weekend!!

Wow, that crepe looks delicious!!!! YUMMMMMMMM
Your hikes are always so beautiful. I want to get to Bald Mt again soon; Joe and I used to climb it often and it's my fave spot!
I love your hike. I also love that you are such a strong woman who stands up for the right. I also love hugs from my children. Claire sounds like a wonderful daughter. Have a good weekend.
My heart goes out to you and to Abby for your painful experiences. How brave of you both! You are both in my prayers.
That crepe looks absolutely delicious. I'm sure we must have restaurants like that here, but I don't know of any, at least not close by.
The views from your hike are so beautiful. Such an accomplishment to make your way to the top and breath it all in.
Have a good weekend!
Wow, those crepes look so good! I just finished checking things off, too--I didn't get to FFF this week because I was hardly at the computer the last three days. But some things had to get done this week.
I'm so sorry about what you and Abby went through. I can understand that going through this with another could trigger your own memories and pain. I pray for justice in the case and healing and comfort for both of you.
I applaud you for standing for justice!
Hikes are a wonderful source of rest and renewal. I'm glad you were able to get some hiking in this week.
My checklist is just too long right now. My goal is boxes packed every day. We have to been finished by Tuesday evening!
This situation can't be easy for you but I'm sure you are a great support for Abigail. I hope justice is served. I expect getting out for a good hike helps take your mind off things and of course hugs help!
The summit pictures are gorgeous! Glad you have that wonderful outlet especially during this past few weeks. The crepes sound delicious. Spontaneous hugs anytime, but most especially when they are intuitive, from our kids are the best. You and Abby stay strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Praying you feel His strength carrying you both!
