BELIEVE!

Believe.

It simply means to accept something as true; feeling assured of the truth of something........

I wasn't really looking for a "Word of the Year" for 2021.  I mean, heck, my 2020 word was Thrive and I started out with some good posts about this word and then Covid19 happened and my desire to blog much just spiraled  downward.  I rarely wrote much at all about "thrive" yet I did "thrive" in many areas during the last year:  professionally, personally, relationally, spiritually, and yet........2020 was challenging wasn't it? We definitely didn't "thrive" as a nation here in the States.

But 2021 has promise.  I believe it will be difficult but I also believe it will be better in so many ways.

I've always been drawn to light.  And the word Believe made me think of the Scripture in the photo above.....

......believing in Jesus as the Savior of the World brings Light into our darkness.  This world is dark. Especially this past week, this past year, both on a national level and in my personal life with that abuse case I'm a witness in. But you know what?

God brings Light to all situations when we press in to Him;

When we BELIEVE He has written our names on the Palms of His Hands.  This means He doesn't forget us! It's actually poetic imagery and it's one of my favorite ways to think about the fact that God never doesn't know me.

and of course the nail scars in Jesus' hands from being nailed to the Cross for our sins......this is the physical evidence that doubting Thomas..who had such trouble believing, needed to see and feel to know it was really Jesus His Savior.

I BELIEVE that there are better days ahead friends.  I believe this for my physical body, my mental state, my emotional being, and my relationships and spiritually speaking.  I believe it for my work, my husband's work, our church, our community, our state, our nation.

Let's BELIEVE with all of our heart that 2021 is the year we will be set free from injustices, from abuse of power, from broken communities.

Let's BELIEVE that as Christ-followers, we can make a difference in this world.

Believe is a good word. It was my word one year and I feel like it helped me to not only focus more on my belief in Jesus but also more in my belief in myself.

Believe is a great word. And I love that scripture about God writing our names on the palms of His hands.
