Goals Check-Up #1

Here it is a little more than half-way through March.  Winter is officially over and Spring has sprung here in eastern New York!

I'm checking on where I am regarding the Goals I set for 2021.  Let's start with my Physical Goals/Social-Emotional/Relational Goals:

  • Hike on 10 new-to-me trails by June.  I have actually exceeded this goal due to January being so mild here.  I've hiked on 14 new to me trails as of today, since January 1st, and almost all of them are right here in the Capital Region.  2 were outside Saratoga which is to the north of us.  None were in the Adirondacks as I don't hike in the mountains in the winter time. GOAL MET
  • Work-out 5 days a week.  I've been averaging 3-4 days a week since Feb and before that, during the month of January I walked every day for 5 days a week. This month has been less successful as I've had a bone bruise on my shin and have to limit my walks and now I'm dealing with a horrible sinus issue so that has cut into my work out time. Goal not met yet!
  • Climb 2 High Peaks by Oct (hasn't begun yet due to Winter!)
  • Climb Mt Marcy (see above)
  • Coffee dates with friends.  (we are still being careful about getting together with people outside our covid bubble so this has not been met yet.  Once I'm vaccinated and more of my friends are, I will definitely be meeting this goal.  I did go out to lunch after a hike last weekend with my friend Diane.  We are walking partners so we feel comfortable with each other.
  • Attend 2 art exhibits before autumn (again, due to Covid19, we are unable to do this at this time.  I do have plans to attend one in May if all goes well!)
  • Read 55 books.  I am well on my way to meeting this goal.  I am on book #9 since January 1st. Actually I am reading books #9 and 10....I'm almost done with the fiction book I began last week and I'm half-way through the non-fiction book.  I read non-fiction more slowly than fiction.
  • Play piano 2x per week.  FAIL.  I haven't touched my piano since Xmas vacation. I really need to work on this.
SPIRITUAL GOALS

  • Meditate/pray 6x a week.  I am doing this!!  I'm praying and meditating every morning. I also tend to lift up others in prayer throughout various times of the day or evening.  I feel like I'm doing this every single day.  Not for a long time....but it's a start.
  • Complete all the major prophets in the OT.  (I have completed Jeremiah and am starting Isaiah tomorrow)
  • Do an in-depth study of 4 minor prophets of the OT.  (I have just completed a study of Hosea with supplemental material from Faithful Love devotional)I have 3 minor prophets left.  The next one I am studying is Obadiah.
  • Pray WITH people (be more intentional about praying for others).  I have done this with 2 friends this past month in a 1:1 situation and I have done this with my Book Group twice a month since Mid-January. GOAL MET but it's also an on-going goal.
All in all I think I am doing pretty well with my 2021 goals.

How are you doing with yours?  did you set any physical, emotional, social or spiritual goals for your self this year??

Hi Faith - I love your goals and the progress you are making. I didn't know you play the piano! Me too - except that I haven't practiced in forever. I really want to get back into it. So fun to find another thing we have in common. I hope you are feeling better. I have been thinking about and praying for you this weekend. Hope the coming week goes well for you.

I think you're doing great considering we're still in a pandemic.

It always impresses me how motivated you are. I feel like I am barely dragging myself from one day to the next right now. Love that quote meme that started this post. Sorta gives a freedom to the goals.
