End of July Faves

I love that it's the end of July and that the weather has vastly improved. The month was a rather rainy one and when it wasn't raining, it was so hot and humid that enjoying the outdoors was fleeting.  But this past week has been perfect and I'm taking a pause to reflect on the other blessings from the week.  Please consider joining us.  You can learn more by heading to Susanne's site.

  • IMMUNE SUPPORT:  Dave had a horrible head cold all last week and I ended up with a milder version of it on Saturday morning.  I wasn't thrilled that I had to miss a mountain hike, but I was thankful for the On Guard tabs I keep on hand as it really works to keep your cold mild.  In fact, I ended up with NO congestion and just a slight cough.  So thankful for natural, essential oils and herbs for taking care of our bodies vs over the counter unnecessary medicines that don't work on viruses anyways.

  • MAIL!  I was so surprised to get some real mail TWICE this past week:  This cute card, pretty bookmark, and fun sticker from my blogging friend, prayer partner,  and pen-pal from Utah (Deborah from A Day in the Life blog) and a postcard from my friend Ann when she was out in Yellowstone National Park.  I love getting real mail...it's rare these days other than junk or some bills!  Mail from friends always makes me thankful and it always makes me smile.

  • MORNING COFFEE ON THE DECK! There's been some absolutely glorious days this past week with no humidity... so windows could be open! One of those days was Tuesday and I just loved having my morning coffee on the deck, after my shower.  I did my devotional out there, and just enjoyed the quiet before the rush to get to work.  I'm thankful for sunshine and no humidity.

  • AFTER WORK WORK-OUT:  Wednesday was THE perfect summer weather day for eastern NY.  It was about 75 degrees and sunny with blue skies.  Just gorgeous.  I came home from work, did a couple of chores, told Dave good luck (he still works from home and had to preach the message to the youth group that evening), then changed into work-out clothes and drove across town to a nature preserve that the Nature Conservancy oversees.  There are about 2.5 miles of trails there now and I was able to power walk, hike and trail run 1.6 miles of them before the bugs started coming out.  Lots of mosquitoes that day due to the week before and all the rain.  I felt great afterwards and was happy I had done 33 minutes out of 45 that were "active heart rate" minutes meaning an excellent cardio workout.  And it was peaceful.  I saw one jogger from a distance, heading back to the loop where the cars are parked and then I saw no other human until I was on my way out of the woods. I'm thankful for pretty places to walk/hike/run.

  • DECK DINING AND DINNER OUT!  I was blessed that after working out in the nature preserve, both daughters  wanted me to grab some wraps from our fave local wrap/salad spot and bring them home for dinner. Dave was eating with the youth group leaders at church, so I picked up a tofu-veggie wrap for Claire and brought it to her at work for her dinner break (she typically works 1-9 pm when she isn't working 5:30am-2 pm).  Courtney chose to eat hers while she was multi-tasking in her bedroom (she moves into her new apt tomorrow) and so that left just me for some peace and quiet on the deck.  It was so nice out and the food from this place is fabulous. Then yesterday (Thursday) was Dave's birthday and we celebrated by giving him some special gifts, and taking him out for Japanese food to this amazing place. It was just Dave, Courtney and I as Claire is on Long Island visiting friends for a few days. I'm so thankful we had time together.
Happy Birthday to Dave!

That wraps up my week.....this weekend, we'll be helping our oldest move into her own apartment a few miles from us in town.  Her friend Nathanael will be here from Maryland to help.....I will try to read everyone's FFF at some point when I finally collapse tomorrow evening.

ENJOY the Weekend!

Hi Faith - I love your faves this week. I need to look into getting some of the DoTerra on guard tabs. Always good to have something like that on hand. So glad that Courtney has a friend coming to help her move. That will be a big job for all of you. I hope that everything goes well. You have some really great places to power walk close to where you live. It looks like Dave had a nice birthday. Have a good weekend. See you again soon!

Happy belated birthday to Dave. Sounds like he had a special day being celebrated. I don't think we have On Guard around my parts. I'll have to see if my hubby can get it through Amazon. I should have it on hand as Alberta has pretty much opened up and I an see the colds making a comeback this fall. The trail looks nice and a peaceful place to be. How nice of Deb to send those fun things for you!

Belated happy birthday to your husband! Sounds like you had a great time out. That is special to get something in the mail box from a friend. It's great you've been having good weather. Still hot and humid here. The wrap place sounds really good--wish we had one here!

Great faves this week! Happy Birthday to Dave!
Your hikes always inspire me. You have beautiful places to hike. We are having so much humidity it is hard to walk much during the day.
Congrats again to your girl moving in to her apartment!
