Mid-March Faves

It's the day of the week where a few of us gather at Susanne's site to link our posts up and share in the FFF....  Five of our Fave  blessings from the past week.  This was a crazy week and I'm actually relieved it's over and I can relax (for the most part) this weekend.

  • HOMEMADE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP:  Sunday was Day 5 of a raging sinus headache for me.  My doc won't write a prescription for the antibiotic until it's been at least 7-10 days.  So I was not happy and nothing over the counter was working nor were the essential oils that usually help.  I made homemade chicken noodle soup for Sunday dinner, with some wonderful garlic bread from the bakery and our oldest daughter Courtney came over to join us for dinner. The soup felt really good for my sinuses and I'm thankful I could spend a bit of time with my oldest before she had to go back to her apartment. The double blessing for this was that the next day was Pi day (one of her majors in  college was Math) so I made a chocolate cream pie after work and told her to pop in for a piece on her way home from her job.  (She gets out at 6 pm).  She popped over and enjoyed pie with Dave and I.  (Claire was still at work). I'm very thankful she lives close enough to pop in for dinner and a piece of pie!
Olivia Benson wannabe
  • SPIRIT WEEK:  This past week has been "Spirit Week" at our preK agency.  I took a sick day Monday but felt ok enough to go in on Tuesday so dressed in my "Fave Character" for the day.  Anyone who is my friend knows that my fave character is from the only TV show I watch:  Law and Order SVU.  I adore Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay is the actress) and I'm always saying "I wanna be Olivia Benson when I grow up".  So I wore my black skinny jeans, a black tee, found a cheap black blazer at T*rget and found an NYPD police badge at Am*zon. So fun!  We all had a blast this week and I'm so thankful for a fun teaching staff to do life with at work.

  • ANTIBIOTICS:  Tuesday afternoon I went to my doc and she gave me a covid test to rule that out but because of my sinus history she was pretty convinced I have a sinus infection (honestly, I could have saved her the aggravation and told her this last week...I know my body!).  The Covid test was negative (DUH!) and she wrote the script and sent me on my way.  I've never been more thankful for an antibiotic and by the 2nd dose (I kid you not) my headache pain was easing up.

Almost Spring....

Trees are just starting to bud in the suburban woods
  • OUTDOOR POWER WALK:  For the first time in 7 weeks, I was able to get over to the town bike path and power walk after work on Wednesday.   The temp was 57 degrees F and the sun was full on.  What a gorgeous late winter-almost-spring day.  Spring begins next week and I, for one, am really looking forward to these trees turning green.  In the first pic it looks like snow piles on the right hand side in the background....those are actually bleachers for the town baseball field!!  That's where they are stored during the winter. Most of the woods are bare of the 4 inches of snow we got last week......you can still see some piles in the deeper sections where the sun hasn't reached well. I'm so thankful I had a good 1.8 miles  walk with minimal pain in my sprained toe. I LOVE getting my heart rate up when I'm outside.

  • WINDOWS OPEN!  For the last two nights, we've been able to have one of the 2 bedroom windows open for sleeping. My sinuses are happy, Dave snores less when fresh air is pouring through the room, and I sleep the best with fresh air. I'm so thankful winter is winding down!

Those are the blessings that stand out to me this week.  What are some of yours??

Whatever they are, I hope you reflect on them, give thanks for them, and have a wonderfully restful weekend.

Wow, that's hard to wait so long for antibiotics. I wonder why the dr. does that--I guess to make sure it's not just a passing cold? So glad you finally got them and are feeling better. Yay for homemade chicken noodle soup. We celebrated Pi Day, too! I agree, it's lovely to live so near to our kids that they can pop in.

I didn't know about your fave character til now. I've never seen that show, but I've seen it advertised a lot and see the resemblance to her character. Fun!

We're seeing a lot of signs of spring as well, and it does my heart good. Though we had 6" of snow on Saturday, we're back to spring-like temperatures this week.

Hi Faith. You look so cute dressed as Olivia Benson. So glad you had Courtney comes over for soup and pie. Wow, that pie sounds so good! I love that kind. I am glad that you finally got antibiotics and that you are starting to feel better. The pictures from your power walk look great. So glad you could get outside and that spring is on the way! Have a good weekend. See you again soon!

My doctor was the same when I had a sinus infection last year. I had to wait well over a week before he would consider giving an antibiotic. I hope by now you are feeling much better. Good that your toe has healed enough to allow you to get out and walk. I agree it definitely does feel good to get out and walk. Spring is definitely here where I am. My neighbours cherry blossom tree is in full bloom and looks lovely. Such a shame that its beauty is so short lived. It's good having family close. Have a good weekend.

Finally, you got the treatment you needed! I'm glad the antibiotics worked so quickly once you had them.
I love having my girls close by. We had pie last night (part of my birthday celebration).
Getting out for a good fast walk is so so refreshing! And it will be even more wonderful when we have the greenery around us.
Have a good weekend!

I find it hard to believe that they wait so long to give a prescription when you have a history. Glad it worked so quickly when you finally got it. A fun staff is the one thing I miss working on my own. How fun that you got Courtney over for soup and pie. I love homemade chicken soup and I swear it's God's treatment for all that ails. :) Walking outside in the fresh air is also great healing for soul and body. Glad your toe is up for the challenge. Not quite open window at night weather yet over here but it's coming!

That seems to be the fashion now ! A cold and you are even allowed to name it cold and not Covid ! That's nice that your daughter lives so close so that she can pop in and say hello ! I have to wait 6 weeks before I see my son and family. With antibiotics they became stingy here too, because people exaggerated and although they need a prescription they wanted it for everything where the good old aspirine would have been enough ! I always have a bronchitis and then sometimes I have to take antibiotics too.
