It's Friday! Time to pause, take a look back at the week to find the blessings God brought us, and share FIVE of them that would be deemed "Favorites". Susanne is our host for the Friday Fave Five. Hop on over to her site to learn more!

- BREAKFAST DATE: Last Saturday morning, my church friend Lynn and I had a breakfast date at this place. It had been about 5 years since I had been there. The food is so good and as you can see from the photo, they have an extensive bakery. (we didn't buy anything sweet). I had the California Omelette (eggs, roasted red peppers, pepper jack cheese and avocado) and coffee. Everything tasted great. I'm thankful for good conversation and breakfast out with a good friend.
- GOOD REPORT and a REAL LETTER! I received a letter in the mail from my ob/gyn stating that my pap smear was all normal. I won't need another one until 3 years from now. I'm thankful for good health insurance, a wonderful ob/gyn, screenings and good reports! I'm also thankful for blogging friends. One, Deb, sent me a real letter and I received it earlier this week. It was fun to read and to get something in the mail besides bills or junky political statements. I'm thankful for the blogging friends I have made.

- WARM WEATHER: We've had another week of very nice, warm temperatures. We did have a couple of mornings of frost (I'm ok with that because I'm still dealing with these horrible daily allergy headaches/congestion (and no, the meds don't work!) and supposedly once the grass dies off, they should disappear...at least that's what the ENT says)but the days have been sunny and warm. I'm thankful we've had a warm autumn and that my spring flowers are still blooming!

- SOUL DAY! Yesterday I had a scheduled "personal day". For some reason I've acquired 3 personal days at work, and the boss likes us to take them before June otherwise we lose them! So I took my first one of the school year yesterday to go meet my childhood friend who was coming from the central part of the state where my childhood home town is, for a morning of exploration followed by lunch out for her birthday. It's located right in the town and was EXCELLENT. We discovered Whiskey Brook Falls and did some exploring there. I've been there before as it's part of a hiking challenge I did but she had only ever seen it from the roadside. We scrambled up some large rocks to get close and I explored further up until I couldn't anymore due to thick brush and no real trail. Then we headed back towards the town up there and walked in the town park which is 3 different interconnected loops with one section being for picnickers. We saw a family on their way out as we began on the boardwalk and then we were the only people in that trail system. Yes, I saw fresh bear scat. It's that time of year when they begin to gather berries, etc before hibernating but we never did see him/her. One loop brings you to a boat launch. Only non-motorized boats are allowed on the Sacandaga River. It's amazing to see this quiet part of the river. I've posted pics of the wild parts before but there's something about the placid part of it here in this town park that just soothes my soul. I'm thankful it was 64 degrees up in the mountains! I'm also thankful for time away from the classroom and for friends who love to hike. (most unusual for this time of year up there). (these are just a few of my pics...there will be more on FB)
- NEW BOOK: I rarely buy books. I'm a huge fan of not collecting clutter and books are clutter because once I read one, I'm done. (although I do have a collection of the classics like Les Miserables, Gone with the Wind, The Scarlet Letter, etc etc). Also, we live in a very large suburban town which has one huge library and they have an inter-library system. I can get novels, hiking guides, etc for FREE! When I buy a book, it's usually a Christian study book/Bible study or a non-fiction Christian book on a certain topic (The 5 Love Languages for example). But....I'm praying and pondering about starting a new small group ministry at church for hiker folks. And since it would be a small group, I would need, as the leader, to have some kind of study guide or devotional. So I saw this and decided to get it. Paulson is a PhD (psychologist) who is a born again Christian and an avid hiker. I read the first entry yesterday before hitting the trail. I'm thankful for new books that center me close to Christ in nature.
That wraps up my fave blessings for the week.
How about you? what blessings were found in your days??

Hi Faith. So glad you had a good report from your doctor and that your medical records were found safe. Your personal day sounds rejuvenating and wonderful. Taking a day off now and then is a good thing. That hiking devotional book sounds just perfect for you. Sounds like you had an overall positive week. So much to be grateful for! See you again soon.
What a blessing to get together for lunch or hiking with friends! I think it's wonderful for you to begin a small group for hikers. Very unique!
I love books and do occasionally have to weed through them when I run out of bookshelf room. Books that I keep are ones that are very special to me and ones that I re-read. Usually, I borrow from the library or through their e-book section to read initially and then later, I may buy a copy to keep.
That's great that the office finally found your medical records. Everything is usually done electronically now so it was probably a surprise that they came in the mail.
You mentioned in a previous comment on my blog that you've been to Cooperstown Museum. I was there twice as a child - one was a school trip. It was fascinating although I don't think I appreciated it very much as a child.
Have a lovely weekend.
It's always nice to get those screenings done and then get good reports. So glad the records were found! It's great to get a rare real letter in the mail. Glad you had some good excursions with friends. How neat that there is a devotional book for hikers.
I know what you mean about book clutter. I get many for a dollar or two through my Kindle app these days. But I also like to support authors and all the work they put into making books, too. It's hard to balance sometimes. But reading from the library helps them, too, because then the library knows there is an interest in their books and will keep buying them. .
I do hope your headaches go away as the ENT thinks they will. Those headaches have been plaguing you for so long.
All your hikes are so beautiful. You are blessed to live where you do.
I love my books and I love my library too. You know the saying--too many books, so little time.
Have a great weekend!
Good results are always welcome ! Your hike in this beautiful landscape was certainly nice, I am far too lazy !
Praise God the medical records turned up! That would certainly be disconcerting not knowing where my medical information was. Your hiking pictures are lovely. I have come to believe that reading books and collecting books are two entirely different hobbies. Unfortunately I love both. LOL. Though I have gotten better at getting rid of them. I have 3 books shelves with absolutely no room for more so I must contain any books have want to keep within those 3 shelves, and neatly at that. I don't pay for a lot of books as I get them given to me or find them in Little Free Libraries.
