The end of May.....what??!!
This month flew! When the girls were little I sometimes felt like it dragged as we packed and planned and shopped for camping trips or beach house jaunts, in preparation for the long Memorial Day Weekend. Now all these years later, with me teaching full time, it's just flying by! It's been a great month though of a lot of blessings. I'm sharing FIVE of those....FAVE ones with other bloggers who also link up at our hosts' site. Won't you join us?
Mama (or daddy?) Bunny in our backyard |
- BUNNY ANTICS: Dave and I have been enjoying watching an adult rabbit and one baby running around the backyard this past month. There seems to be only one baby (rare!) but we also live in suburbia where many people own dogs so I'm hoping a dog didn't get one of the other babies. They seem to live under our shed in the far back corner near our kayak rack. Last year the bunnies lived under our deck. Anyways, the adult bunny was IN the firepit this past week chewing on the branches we placed in there. It's just hilarious to see him/her jump up and then out. He isn't too afraid of us so we can usually get some good pics. Baby tends to hang out near the kayaks. I'm thankful for God's creatures.

- WEEKEND GUEST! My husband was out of state with my nephew (they went to MA for a baseball game with the Red Sox minor league team from Friday to Saturday afternoon) so my very dear friend Diane from my childhood hometown came out to spend most of the weekend. I had time to use for work before I retire, so I left the classroom at noon and we had drinks on the deck and just relaxed and talked. In the evening we went out for dinner at one of my all time fave places (she LOVED it). and then we came home, had some herbal tea and sat and talked and talked and talked. Saturday, I made us a huge protein packed breakfast and then we went to the Farmers Market in Saratoga followed by coffee at a fave coffee shop. We sat for an hour just talking. Then we had lunch there and talked and talked some more! After our morning/early afternoon in Saratoga, she wanted to visit both of my daughters, so we went to each apartment and spend a few minutes chatting with each girl. Our families are very close so it was nice for the girls to see one of my dearest childhood friends and the mom of my youngest sister's best friend! I'm so thankful for close friends and sisters in Christ.
chicken and mozzarella ravioli with tossed spinach/romaine salad |
- SIMPLE DINNERS: Saturday evening, my friend had to go home so Dave and I had a late dinner of ravioli stuffed with chicken and mozzarella with a side salad. Simple, delicious. We also enjoyed talking and catching up on the weekend events since we were both doing separate things. Later that evening, I wanted to watch a movie. I chose this one pictured below. WOW was it ever good. HIGHLY recommend it. Tyler Perry is a Christian and this movie was definitely NOT like his Madera movies (although those are fun). It was a serious topic and SO well done. It's currently on Netflix. I'm thankful for good food and movies and time together.

first of the season |
- ROSE BLOOMS! This week the first of my rose bush blooms opened up! These roses make me smile. The bush was put into the front garden in 1996. It's done well over the years. I simply cut it back each November. I'm so thankful for these lightly scented tea roses. They're my absolute faves.
- ENCOURAGING EMAIL: I had a very encouraging, helpful, and kind email from a blogging friend. You can see her blog here. I had written her a long email about something I was dealing with and she gave me some good information as she had experienced something similar. I don't want to go into the details here but let's just say God used her words to give me peace in my heart and to confirm some things my husband was suggesting. I'm so thankful for women who pray and I hope I can return the favor one day.
That wraps up my week!
Here in the States, we have a long holiday weekend so no teaching for me on Monday! We are remembering the war heroes who've gone before us, sacrificing their lives to defend our nation. (my dad, father-in-law, nephew, 2 brother in laws, my paternal grandfather, 2 uncles) Although I am pretty much anti-war, I am thankful for each person who has chosen to defend our country. The Bible does tell us we will have wars and rumors of wars and I firmly believe before things get better, they will get worse.
Meanwhile.....we continue to pray for all who serve.
Have a wonderful weekend and God bless the USA.

Love the colour of your rose and those flowers are lovely. Not sure about a blue drink though lol. Great that you had your friend to keep you company while Dave was away. No bunnies here but we do get a squirrel in and out of the garden. Fun to watch it trying very hard to get the bird food from the supposedly squirrel proof feeders. Always good to have the support of friends. Have a good weekend.
Hi Faith. Thank you for the kind words and shout out. So glad my email and experiences helped you out. I am glad you had a good week and got to meet up with a friend. It's fun to watch rabbits and other wild-life. We have a lot of squirrels and ducks around here. Have a great weekend. (I wasn't able to join in with FFF yet - maybe I will have time later today). See you again soon!
We have some wild bunnies visit the back yard, too. We've never figured out where they live. They're skittish and dash away at the slightest movement. They're so fun to watch.
So glad you had such a lovely time with your friend. I love roses. Ours do well in spite of me. :-)
It's so nice to receive encouragement from a friend.
There is a neighborhood bunny that comes around at times around our place. Love when he shows up to say hello. Garden centers are a huge spending spree for me. I cannot resist. All those flowers are gorgeous! Nice that you had a wonderful weekend with your friend. I'll have to look for that movie. Encouragement from friends is a blessing indeed.
I like bunnies as long as they aren't in my garden; then I turn into Mrs. McGregor.
What a nice weekend you had--all the special time with your childhood friend and then a quiet evening with your husband.
Long happy weekend to you!
