"Even when the rainbow seems to pass right by me....I'm still finding Gold in the clouds....."

15 May 2023

I haven't participated in one of these Daybooks in a long time. Since I'm at home today nursing a sprained/cut foot (a gardening accident yesterday!), I thought I'd do one.  I hope everyone's new week is off to a good start and that if you are a mom, that you had a special Mother's Day.

FOR TODAY:

Looking out my window: I'm sitting in the dining room and the window faces east:  morning sun is shining through the maple trees in the far back and on to the top of my kayak; grass is bright green and the sun streaming through the window is landing on my mother's day flowers (magenta irises) in the vase on the table.

I am thinking: about how the day is going to go in the classroom this morning due to my self and the other teacher being out...hoping the sub has an easy time.

I am thankful:  for accumulated sick time and the fact that I am retiring soon from many years of teaching special little ones!

One of my favorite things:

Red trillium (wildflowers)
on a trail in the Adirondacks
that I spied on Saturday's mountain climb

I am wearing:
my LLBean summer pj's: long cotton pants with a s'mores theme and the matching logo cotton tee with a Gordon College zippered hoodie due to a chill in the air this morning.  Bare feet but the toes are painted a merry magenta. No, I haven't showered yet!! :)

I am creating:  a space in the backyard for a wildflower garden.....i have the space all dug out...this week, later on....I will add the garden soil and the seed.

I am watching: bluebirds, robins, and black capped chickadees flitting around the feeder and yard

I am reading: Priscilla Shirer's Discerning the Voice of God ; The Orphans of Mersea House by Marty Wingate, and the book of Isaiah (I'm on chapter 52)

I am listening to:  the furnace!  Dave is working in his upstairs office (he works from home on Mon/Fri) and there was a chill in the air this a.m so he turned it on. WHen we woke up at 6 a.m  the house was 61!  Now it's getting up to 68 and then the furnace will shut off.

I am hoping:  that my oldest daughter Courtney and her best friend Nathanael  have a safe train trip to Chicago and then a safe flight to Wichita, Kansas. They leave tonight.

In the garden:  the tulips are past peak; the peonies are about to bloom anyday now; the rose bushes have large buds but haven't opened yet, the cherry tree blossoms aren't doing as well this year; the wildflowers I planted in a large deep pot for the deck steps are beginning to push through the dark soil and the basil is steadily growing!

In the kitchen: fruit salad of watermelon. honeydew, cantaloupe and blueberries with roasted red pepper hummus and raw carrots, cucumber slices, pepper strips and naan for lunch;  Dave is cooking Rice and Beans for dinner as I'll be picking up Courtney and Nate for the train station during dinner prep time. Claire's coming over to eat with Dave after she gets out of work. They will save me some Rice and Beans.

A moment from my day:

Cut and bruised from a gardening accident

took sick day to ice it throughout the day

That's peek into my day, folks!

Here's hoping the week improves the foot! I really need to return to teaching tomorrow as I have Wed and Fri afternoons off for a physical and  I have out of town company coming Friday afternoon for the weekend.....one of my best friends from my childhood hometown!  Please pray this foot heals quickly. thanks!!

Yikes! I hope your foot is ok!!

I did enjoy this blog, though. It relaxed me to read. Except for the foot part. ;)

Oh my word, how did I miss this post. That looks like it was painful.
