It's almost the end of February already and time for me to review my 2024 goals and see how I'm doing.
- Practice French daily: I'm doing this! It's been a lot of fun reviewing French via the Duolingo app and my brother in law, his wife and my oldest daughter are also doing this. It's been a lot of fun. So far I have done 75 days in a row since first starting the French review. This goal is on-going for my personal development.
- Study Galatians in the New Testament and with an in depth Study guide: I'm half way through Chapter 5 and will begin the last chapter next week! I've been posting summaries of each chapter on this blog. It's been a really interesting book to study. The study guide I'm using is via the YouVersion Bible app. I'm almost done with this goal!
- Read 4 non-fiction books including 1 biography or autobiography: I have read a memoir/autobiography at the end of January. Review is here. I also completed in early January, another non-fiction Christian devotional that contained many autobiographical anecdotes. That review is here. I am half-way through this goal!
- Power Walk 6 days a week: this goal is also on going for my cardio health. I'm currently averaging 4 days a week according to my fitbit. This will get better as warmer weather approaches. Brisk walking does seem to help with the chronic headaches and neck pain I've been experiencing.
- Hike 3x in the High Peaks Region of the ADK: Cannot begin this goal until after mud season...but I'm making plans!!
- Hike 2 new trails in the deep woods: this hasn't happened yet this year mainly due to significant snow in the deep woods of the mountains or ice and I'm not a winter hiker. This goal will begin sometime in April.
- Hike 1 mountain never climbed previously: this won't happen until after May
- Practice piano 3x a week: I started off January doing fairly well with this. But...the third week of January arrived and with it more significant neck and head pain so I've not practiced at all since then. I plan on getting back to this by the beginning of March.
- Visit 3 more ADK towns for the 102 Challenge before end of Autumn: This won't happen until Spring arrives. Some of the towns are very isolated and the roads in are not good for my tiny Honda Civic.
- Volunteer once a month for a non-profit organization or church event: Well....so far this winter there have been no opportunities with the town library where I signed up to volunteer..they told me to check come June when they need help at the various summer events. I have volunteered to present my newly formed SoulSteps group to the church Fitness class that is held every Monday. I spoke to them and presented my information at their mid January meeting and in doing so, I had 20 women either sign up for my Fri/Sat walking groups and/or the Hikers group!! I will also be volunteering at the next women's conference. This will become an ongoing goal.
- Have monthly meetings with the new SoulSteps group: This group I began has already had the first Walking events (the first Fri and Sat of Feb). Our 2nd Walking and Meditation/Scripture event is this upcoming Fri and Sat!! I did meet with any person who signed up to be in the HIKERS portion of SoulSteps last week at the church. I've met 6 new women and 1 man and they're all excited to begin Hiking in April! This is an ongoing goal as we meet for Walking from Feb-June and then Sept-Dec. And the Hiking group will begin April-November.
- Coffee or breakfast/lunch date with 3 close friends: I've had 1 coffee date so far this winter and I have a breakfast date with my cousin and good friend Trisha on Monday morning! I have a coffee date scheduled for March 8 with my church friend Diane. I'll plan more come Spring, Summer and Autumn. This goal is on going.
- Host 2 Game Nights before the End of Summer: I'm actually planning on hosting a game afternoon with my sister Hope and her husband Donny for sometime in either March or April. We just haven't chosen the date yet! Our oldest daughter and her friend Nate will also come most likely. This is an on going goal! We love to have company!
- Invite 2 couples over for dinner before the end of October: We've had one couple over for Sunday dinner (mid-January) and it was a lot of fun. A young couple who are friend with our oldest daughter.....and we also consider them good friends. He is on the Production Paid Staff team at our church and she is a local vocal music teacher and was the director for our Xmas Eve choir. I really enjoyed having Hannah and Scot over and we plan on inviting them again this summer as well as other friends our own age. We do enjoy hosting....especially in the warmer months when we can all sit around the fire pit. So...this goal is half met!!
- Have monthly date nights with Dave: We have had 1 lunch date this winter; two dinner dates, and weekly in-home movie date nights. So far we are doing well with this goal.
What about you? How are you doing with any 2024 goals you might have set?
