Feb Faves

Well we are into February and I don't know about where you live, but here in eastern New York State, it has been a lovely week.  We've had several days of beautiful sunshine and milder temps and I've been loving all the outdoor walks I've managed to do for fitness and just for my soul to breathe and connect with God in His creation.

Let's share FIVE of our FAVE blessings from the week.  This week it's just little things I'm thankful for but each one brought a smile to my face. I'm linking up at Susanne's site who hosts this weekly exercise  for us.

  • WALKING GROUP!  So the womens walking group I lead via my church meets every first Friday and Saturday of the month from Feb until June. For February we met here at my house and next month we will meet at the park.  I had an ok turn out for the Friday group.  There are 10 women, my self included, in that group but only 4 of us showed up.  (one was sick; one had an appointment,  and 4 were out of town on a retreat).  My Saturday group  has 9 of us and there were 6 of us.  (2 had previous obligations and I'm not sure what happened with the other one). After our Scripture meditation, some of the women wanted to share their thoughts, which I loved because that was my vision for this group when I began it....for the ladies to meditate on the Word and then share their thoughts...and then we prayed and then we walked!  Our walking starts out slow and then becomes more like a power walk...a good outdoor workout! I'm so thankful the first meetings went well and I'm looking forward to March when we all meet again.

  • PATIENT PORTALS:  I'm thankful for the technology we have today to schedule appointments and send emails quickly to our primary care doctors or specialists.  I needed to ask my primary doc, Julia, a detailed question and she got right back to me within 24 hours.  And it was over the weekend!  That's rare in my past experiences.  I'm so thankful for her message and for the ease of looking things up in my medical records.

Side trail is wooded and lovely!

  • WALKS:  It's been a nice week for power walking outdoors. I was able to get outside every day this week for at least 1.6-2 miles of walking.  I have a sprained toe so walking has been a little painful but I crave my outdoor time so I sucked it up and went. Tuesday was my fave though.  I went to this place and spent about 45 minutes there.  I power walked for 35 and lingered and poked around for the other few minutes before going home to do some chores. I'm so thankful for access to good nature preserves and bike paths in the NYS Capital Region.

  • COFFEE SCENT!  I was going through old camping and cottage stuff in the basement this past week and  discovered this candle tin.  I set it on the stovetop and have been lighting it in the early evenings and letting it saturate the house with the lovely scent of fresh brewed coffee. I'm thankful I found this....I had forgotten all about it! I love the memories it conjures up too of evenings spent on the cottage porch playing board games with the girls and husband or just lounging around with our books and drinks. The coffee scent is heavenly!

  • NEW LOVESEAT!  Our youngest daughter bought the above pictured couch in teal green for her apartment, and I loved it so much I wanted one in grey.  (she had also taken our old wicker couch for her apt as I was tired of it). Well this was on sale this week so I ordered one and it came 2 days earlier than expected!  It was easy to put together and Dave happened to be home on his lunch hour so helped with the piece (a little attached wooden table) that needed 2 people before he went back to work.  I'm thankful for sales!  This is in our living room which is a reading/quiet room although it also has my piano in there. This room is now complete again!

BONUS FAVE:  meeting an older woman at church whom I've admired for several years but whom I never got to meet.  (we are in a large  church...about 1200 people at the 11 AM and 500 at the 9 AM).  I had the opportunity to meet her this week (she's the wife of one of the elders who oversee our senior pastor) and they have been a part of the church since it began in 1990. I loved  getting to know her a little more and we had a wonderful conversation. I'm thankful for the older "sisters in Christ" who are a part of my life.

These are the things that made me smile and say THANK YOU, GOD!

What about you? what are you thankful for today?

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Hi Faith. I hope you are having a good day. I love your pictures of your walk along the Erie Canal. That trail reminds me of the Jordan River Trail that I walked with Josh a couple of years ago. So glad your Soul Steps group is starting out so well. It's great that your doctor got back to you so quickly and that you now have an MRI scheduled for next week. Praying for you to get the answers to you. We have having a snowy day here. I will respond to you MP a little later. I enjoy those messages. Have a good Friday and weekend!

Good morning, dear friend. I really do covet your prayers.. at my age I suppose we can expect all kinds of news.. But you are still in the prime of life and I am so sorry you are having this continuous pain. I understand wanting the find out the cause and I do hope it is something that can be corrected .. I certainly will pray for nothing worse! I will share with you , my prayer warrior that I recently discovered that after an echocardiogram, I have aortic stenosis. Not thrilled about it. but I really love my new cardiologist and he says it is mild and these things take years to ge bad so I am doing fine. A bit anxious about the thought of an aortic valve replacement if it ever came to that. I am still hoping for a timely rapture.. Surely how long can a generation be since Israel became a nation. . anyway.. it is lovely having a truely dedicated woman of God praying for you and I know I can can count on you as I will surely pray for you! God bless!!!

What lovely places to walk! I think a walking club is wonderful, especially beginning with prayer and sharing.

I like the gray couch. Is it a full size couch or a love seat? That would fit perfectly in my apartment. I really like the table the end.

I didn't know they made coffee-scented candles. I would really enjoy that! And Kona coffee is the best!

I'm thankful for patient portals as well. My doctor is easy to reach and I usually hear back the same day. On a weekend! Well, that's amazing!

Have a lovely weekend, my friend,

Hi Faith, I bet that candle smells great! I can use real candles because of my allergies. I use essential oils but I doubt there is one that smells like fresh coffee. Good that your doctor got back to you so quickly! That is nice that you got a couch that your really like. I admire how you go walking and envy all the great places you can go to for walking. I hope to get back to exercise when my ear is healed. My balance is a little off with the eardrum messed up. Enjoy your weekend!

Lovely new couch! It's nice that your walking group has the opportunity to share, and exercise, too! I find that I'm more likely to get out and exercise if there's another purpose involved. Our weather was nice this week, and this morning we woke to 6 inches of snow. The moisture is good for us!

Happy weekend!

That state park is a lovely place to walk and it is so near your home.
The walking groups are a great idea, too.
Our weather has been like yours this week, so I have walked most every day. The grey has set back in, but at least the temps are above freezing.
Nice new sofa!
Have a good week!

Your walking group sounds wonderful. Love that you share thoughts about the scripture before you start walking. Glad you were able to get into contact with your primary care so quickly. How nice that you could get out every day to power walk. I'm looking forward to when it is light when I get off work so I can take our dog for walks right after the last family leaves. You've reminded me I have a coffee and pastry scented candle in the cupboard. Nice couch and fun to refresh a room.

I'm glad your walking group sessions went well and that you've done so much walking despite the sore toe - hope that improves quickly. Funny how I love the smell of coffee but never drink it lol. The couch looks great. Hope you've had a good weekend.

I enjoy patient portals, too. I like that I can write out a question rather than having to explain it to the person who answers, who then tells the nurse, who then tells the doctor--lots of room for mixing up details that way. With the portal, they can read my question in the way that I asked it.

Glad you had some good walks this week.

It's so neat when a sale comes along on something you wanted!
