Special March Faves

How is it almost Palm Sunday already?  Do any of you think March is just flying by?

While we prepare our homes and hearts for Easter/Resurrection Sunday, let's pause and find FIVE of our FAVE blessings from the past week. I like doing this gratitude meme and linking up at Susanne's site because it gets me in a good frame of mind even if it sometimes means really searching for the blessings.  God blesses us every day....we just have to open our eyes and look.

  • SAFELY HOME!  Last Friday night I had to leave our house at about 11:50 pm to go get my husband from the airport as his flight from Guatemala via Atlanta was due to touch down at about 12: 05 AM.  I was there by midnight and had to pull into the cell phone service lot/free parking by the airfield due to no longer being allowed to park in front of the terminal. I knew Dave would text me once the plane touched down and as I watched the plane land, I turned off my car and sat with my headlights on....not remembering of course that this was gonna drain the battery.Sure enough, he texted that he had his bags (it was about 12: 20 AM) and I went to start the car to pull it over to the terminal and........no start! Called AAA and thankfully, the tech guy was down at the University and would be there in 20 min. The blessing is that the car started right up after he used some kind of starter pack and we were able to be home by 1:15 AM. Dave reports that it was a great missions trip and many families were served.  (and yes, he took my car over the next day and bought a new battery after the guys at Advanced Auto tested it and said.....time for an new one! The car is a 2015 and I've owned it since 2017 so that's pretty long life for a battery). So thankful all is fine.

  • NOAH MOVIE: Russell Crowe and Emma Watson are two of our fave actors so when we saw this was available on Netflix, we took last Saturday evening after dinner to watch it. WOW.  GREAT movie. SOME of it is Biblically based but most of it is definitely Hollywood.  It was fun, dramatic, a bit gory and of course violent (the drowning scene is quite overwhelmingly sobering).  It's definitely a good family movie but I honestly wouldn't let children under 12 watch it. Mainly due to the violence depicted and some mature content. I recommend this movie....the ark was amazing and the scenes where the various animals enter was spectacular. I'm thankful we finally saw this movie.

the three Boylan Sisters:  our niece Mady is in the middle

Most of the cast of Annie
including "Clover" who played Dog Sandy!
  • HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL:  Sunday afternoon my oldest daughter and I had tickets to my youngest niece's high school musical.  They performed the often overdone Annie and although I've seen about 4 HS productions of this show, this one by far was the best.  The sets were professionally done by 2 parents who own an art and illustration business and were just top notch. Mady had 3 different roles in the production and did an amazing job at all 3. (Boylan girl, maid, NYC adult). The girl who played Annie had a spectacular vocal range and she was only a sophomore!  I honestly thought she was a senior. The former music teacher in me was amazed. I'm thankful Courtney and I had the chance to see this HS production.

  • WORSHIP AND WORD:  I'm especially grateful this week for the worship team at our church, bringing us close to the Lord through some amazing worship this past Sunday and for our senior pastor for his important word based on the I Am the Gate/Door scriptures.  I never want to take good worship and good teachings for granted. I'm so thankful for our church!

TRUE LIFE STORY:  I was dealing with my first illness since February 2023.....a head cold I  caught from my hubby who brought it home from the missions trip with him....so for a couple days (Wednesday and yesterday)  I just curled up the couch to watch this true life story based on a teen's first marathon.  The boy who played the part is on the autism spectrum and the boy he plays is a real life teen with Autism.  Of course I recommended this to all my special education colleagues and to some parents I know with children on the Spectrum. It's phenomenal.  I like how they tied a Scripture into the plot and showed the family praying and going to church.  It's considered a faith based movie and was absolutely excellent.  I recommend it for ages 8 and older.  It 's a sobering look at what teens on the ASD  go through in social situations. I'm thankful I had time to just relax and watch this movie.

That wraps up my week.  I hope you all have a good weekend celebrating Palm Sunday!!

I'll have to find the "Noah" movie. There was one done years ago that I tried to watch, and it was awful. Others felt the same way, so it wasn't just me. I've heard good things about this one. I imagine the special effects must been amazing, especially during the drowning.

Glad to hear that your husband is home from the successful mission trip to Guatemala. What stories he must have! I'm glad that your battery issue was solved quickly. I would be a bit beside myself to be in an airport lot . . . .at midnight....with a loved one waiting for pick up...and a weak battery!

Sorry to hear you were sick for a few days. I'm really enjoying the faith-based videos that have come out in the past years. And how poignant that an actor on the spectrum played a character who also was.

I'm also thankful for my church, that our praise and worship team always leads us into worship and hearing the word. Our pastor preaches right from scripture. It's like a banquet.

Have a lovely weekend, my friend.

How scary to have your battery go out in the middle of the night at an airport. I'm glad help was near and it was a quick fix. I'm glad, too, that your husband's mission trip went well.

How fun to see your niece in her high school musical. I've not heard of Tyson's Run--sounds good.

I'm afraid I wasn't a fan of the Noah movie and don't think I finished watching it. But I sure want to watch that other one you recommended. What platform did you watch it on? Glad you got help so quickly for that battery. I've done the same thing when watching someone's house Christmas lights set to music. I turned the car off thinking to save gas and less exhaust pollution, then went to leave and it was deader than a door nail. The nice man who owned the house gave me a boost. Said it happens all the time. LOL. Also thankful for good worship and the Word at church.

Happy Palm Sunday to you! I am so late commenting (due to the week of vacation and traveling).
I will look up those two movies. Always open to good suggestions.
I'm glad Dave made it home safely and that AAA was there pronto to start your car for you (especially that late at night).
