WARM WEATHER FAVES

It's been such a nice week...the weather has almost felt like summer at times and the windows being open throughout the day and night time have made me say "Thank You, God".

I'm joining in with other grateful bloggers, linking up at Susanne's site, to share the favorite blessings from the week. I always have more than 5 things to be thankful for but here are the faves.

FIVE FAVES

Bennett Lake

  • WARM WOODS HIKE: Saturday morning at 7:30 AM, 3 of us  piled into the car with our hiking gear, to go 1.5 hours northwest to  my fave southern Adirondack trails. I know I share hikes a lot as a fave but this one truly is a fave.  2 of the SoulSteps members who had originally signed up ended up not being able to go. So that left a new member (Jill) and my friend Joan and I. It was a beautiful hike.  Their first time on the trail and they were open to hiking one mile further than the 3.8 to the last lake, to find a quiet, secluded spot away from the lean-to where 4 hunters were gathered to spend the night. They were very friendly and told us we had just missed a bear! They saw 2 deer but didn't get to them in time. We just loved our hike and ended up hiking 8.68 miles that day and were still home in time for dinner with our spouses. I'm thankful for a warm  Autumn woods hike!  Here are   a few of my fave pics from that day:

  • WARM RELAXING SUNDAY: Sunday was coffee on the deck in the morning sunshine, time in the Word, church, grilled salmon for Sunday dinner, and then relaxing by the fire with my book and getting some more brush burned. I'm thankful for relaxing Sundays.

Sunday afternoon about 5 pm

  • WARM ROAD TRIP/BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION: On Monday, my childhood friend Cheryl who still lives in our childhood hometown in central NY, suggested we celebrate her birthday by finding these waterfalls which is part of the ADK 50 Falls Challenge that I have been working on for several years. We had a blast! The weather was in the high 60s there and a high of 80 here! We found the falls after a very difficult bushwhack. She had been there before so she had a good idea of where we should break through the woods. We aren't sure why the state hasn't created a blazed trail here but it's kind of nice they haven't as it remains completely unspoiled. The falls are on the East Canada Creek which runs all over the southern part of the Adirondacks. Our hometown was on the West Canada Creek so I grew up wading and swimming in the deeper sections of it when I was a child. Here are just a few pics of our road trip. I'm so thankful I spent the day with my long time friend.

  • WARM BACKYARD BLISS: I was just in awe of the warmer days this past week. The sunshine and the fall foliage were stunning. Our area is now at peak color and the Central, Eastern, and High Peaks regions of the Adirondacks are past peak. Our smaller maple finally turned a beautiful golden color this past week and our large maple is JUST beginning to change. I'm so thankful for warm days in the Autumn and the time to enjoy my backyard/deck.

  • WARM WELCOME SPECIALIST:  Well, yesterday I discovered that the pain I was experiencing in my upper teeth earlier this week, which prompted a visit to my dentist for X-rays and then a visit to an endodontic specialist for a scan, was due to a split fractured tooth. So...no root canal can be done;  I need the tooth extracted! I have an appointment scheduled for mid-November but I'm praying my regular dentist, when he returns to the office first thing Monday, will call me with an appointment time sooner than that.  I'm thankful I had a warm welcome to the endodontic specialist....he was very kind and honest. He said there's no sign of infection yet. I'm praying this stays the case if I can't get the tooth pulled before 11/19.  We have used our dentist for 34 years and we love him and have an established relationship with him so here's hoping the Lord makes a way for me to get this pulled ASAP!! I'm so thankful also for specialists and all medical personnel who are here to treat people.

That wraps up my fave blessings from the week.

I hope you all have a relaxing weekend doing the things you love.

I always enjoy reading about your hikes! That's so nice to spend time with a friend! Friends are so special.
I'm hoping you can get in earlier with your dentist. That's great that there is no infection. I too am grateful for medical personnel. You'll understand why when you read my post. Have a lovely weekend!

We've had the most gorgeous October here in NC. The weather has been perfect this month. The afternoons are warm, but not hot. I hope your dentist can see you on Monday to take care of your tooth. That's good news that there's no infection. Curious... what color of Caraway did you go with? I need a new muffin pan and round cake pans, so that'll likely be my next purchase. I love my new frying pan! Have a wonderful weekend.

Those hikes look like so much fun! And this season is so beautiful.
Oh dear. While I'm glad you found out what is causing the pain, I am sorry you will have to have the extraction (been there, done that). I'm sure you are thankful for dental insurance, too.
Have a good weekend!

All the fall hiking pictures are so lovely but the one of the reflection in the lake is stunning. I don't know if bushwacking sounds fun but so glad there was a nice reward for all the work. Praying that dentist appt comes through for you. Tooth pain is not fun at all. Your fall weather sounds lovely. It's getting quite chilly here with a mixed bag of nice sunshine and super windy days.
