Saturday 9: Back to December (2010)
Unfamiliar with this week's song? Hear it here.
1) Taylor Swift sings that when her mind wanders, it usually returns to a specific day in December. How about you? Do you often daydream? Or do you focus on what's happening in the moment?
It depends! If I'm involved in an extended family "forced family fun" event, my mind tends to wander unless we're actively involved in a broad game or good conversation. If I'm at a function where small talk is required, my mind definitely wanders to more pleasnant things (I picture my self on a mountain summit after a great climb) because I despise.....nor am I good at...small talk unless it's with very close friends which ends up being more deep conversations vs "small talk". I daydream sometimes when I'm driving in the mountains and not distracted by highway/interstate driving like where I live.
2) She's looking back on December. We're going with a different take: As we enter November, what are you looking forward to this month?
I'm looking forward to the 3 hikes I have planned for my group SoulSteps. I'm looking forward to an evening out for the Toby Mac/Mercy Me concert with my husband and our dear friends Bob and Darlene. I'm also looking forward to a mini vacation/Thanksgiving in Plymouth County with my husband's side of the family and some hiking on a new to us trail system.
3) The lyrics recount a casual conversation between two former sweethearts. They talk about their families, their careers and the weather. Are you good at making small talk?
I despise small talk and am not good at it. My husband on the other hand could talk to a rock and it would probably talk back!
4) This song was rumored to be about her break up with Taylor Lautner, the actor best known for playing a werewolf in the popular Twilight series. In acknowledgement of the Halloween season: Did you ever trick or treat as a werewolf, vampire, witch, ghost or other scary creature?
I never dressed up as a scary creature other than one year I was a witch...probably around age 10 or 11.
5) Taylor is currently involved with Travis Kelce of the Kansas City Chiefs, and naturally this is his busy time of year. How's your football team (NFL or NCAA) doing this season?
you're kidding right? can't stand watching football. Only went to football games in High School (and never after that.....never in college, etc) to meet friends and then we would walk around town or make fun of the cheerleaders. If I had to choose a team it would of course be the Patriots since we are all things Boston. My husband doesn't do football either. If we watch sports, it's the Red Sox.
6) Taylor loves chicken tenders and says she'd eat them every day, if calories weren't a consideration. If you were to enjoy tenders right now, what dipping sauce would you prefer --sweet/sour, barbecue or honey mustard?
Probably honey-mustard
7) Thinking of food ... Taylor Swift recently donated $5 million to Feeding America with the funds earmarked for those affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Does it make you feel good to do good? If yes, what is something you've done recently to help others? (It may give other Sat-9ers ideas for something they can do.)
yes...the Scriptures say to be compassionate and do good deeds and it does make me feel good. I give annually to Love146 (an organization that helps people get rescued from human trafficking situations/s*xual slavery) and I just finished packing my box for Operation Christmas Child. I have already mailed the money. We also give to our local crisis center as well as to a homeless shelter (clothing, supplies, toiletries, toys)
8) Back in 2010, when this week's song was a hit, the iPod Nano was also popular. Did you have an iPod?
I sure did!! loved it! All of my music was on it and I'd pop in the earbuds and listen while I worked out/power walked or walked along in the woods.
9) Random question: Did you more recently run the dishwasher or the clothes washer?
BOTH!! Yesterday the dishwasher was running at the same time as I had a load of laundry in.
ENJOY the weekend, everyone!!

I’m not a football fan either.
Dishwashers are great.
I would love to hear Mercy Me in concert! I have been to a Toby Mac concert with Danny Gokey, Mandisa and Ryan Stevenson. It was great. I also went to the Adore Concert with Chirs Tomlin and Lauren Daigle. I am going to a Cece Winan concert in my town next February. I plan to go on a prayer walk today around my neighborhood. I turn my Christmas box in tomorrow. I would love to go on one of your walks!
It been ages since I sat down and watch any sports.
Three hikes! I love wandering around in autumn. I hope you have a lovely time
