A White Horse Riding

 She saw through the snow covered birch trees, a white horse riding.....with a handsome guy hanging onto the reins....and she thought, wow.....my prince has come!  

This was the scene in a recent Netflix series I watch.  It's based on horse books my oldest daughter used to read in junior high school and the young girl in the show is dreaming about her boyfriend......isn't it every teen's dream to be snatched up by a handsome prince on a white horse and ride off into the distance?  Don't we sometimes wish our life were a fairy tale?

As I was reading through my Advent devotional this morning, I couldn't help but think of that scene I saw on the show last night. The devotional is about all the different names of Jesus and one of them is Prince of Peace.  I thought of how the world....unbelievers....are searching for peace.  Everlasting peace.  They don't realise they aren't just searching for an end to war..they're searching for peace in their very souls...in their innermost being....in their core.

Scripture tells us that Jesus....our Prince of Peace....is coming again.  He will be on a white horse riding. 

"Then I saw heaven opened, and a white horse was standing there. And the One sitting on the horse was called Faithful and True. .....he was clothed in a robe dipped in blood, and His title was the Word of God."  ~Revelation 19: 11a, 13~

Our Prince of Peace came first as a human baby....born so humbly and laid in a manger....we all know the history......and He is our dream come true when we accept His grace and forgiveness and believe He died for our sins and rose again so that we also may live eternally.  He came to restore our hearts towards God....so we can have a relationship that sin separated.....when we accept and believe Christ, He brings restoration to our relationship with the Creator......which leads to that deep, abiding peace. 

And guess what?! He's also coming back to reign in a new heaven and a new earth. 

His Presence will bring Peace and He will be on a white horse riding.......

.....and that's not a fairy tale....it's Truth.........

morning flurries

Staring out at the swirling snow gently falling from the cloud-filled sky, my thoughts turn as dreary as the day appears to be......

.......my mother in law is quite ill.......my father in law has his own physical issues..........and we live out of state and can't help much, but for prayers........

my house is a mess due to carpet contractors coming and going in the next 48 hours.......

and the message on the piano that says it's the most wonderful time of the year makes me cringe in ways......because....is it really??

and then my eye sees this:

...and I remember:

Without Jesus, there would be no Christmas........the whole reason we have this holiday is because He came to earth in human form....as a baby...to grow and mature into a man who would be sacrificed for our sins......by His blood...like a sacrificial Lamb.......our Redeemer....the only God who rose to life after death and is coming again one day...........to make a new heaven and a new earth and to wipe away all sickness, all tears, all evil.............

Jesus...the Lamb of God.........

bringing Hope into our chaos.......

.................bringing Light into the darkness.........

...............................bringing Peace to our turmoil...........

As we  draw near to the Christmas holiday, may we remember the Lamb that shed His blood for us..........and may we cling to the Hope eternal.
